Review of IX Web Hosting

I was using IX Web Hosting couple of years ago and like any other users, the main idea is to save as much as possible and get the best quality service for every dime paid. being new at that time, i have no idea what i was dealing with and wasn’t sure about IX but after some thoughts (especially with the fantastically low price), I decided I might as well give it a go. even though i have heard of rumors and bad experience encountered by numerous webmasters resulting from their unsatisfactory service, i just kept my fingers cross that somehow these are all just marketing ploy and it will never happen to me, yeah!

Review of IX Web Hosting

Soon after i uploaded my site, the nightmare begins far earlier than i expected. my site was always slow to respond and i have a bad feeling that i could have missed out on some visits due to this problem. i kept asking for friends from different states to test it out and check the loading time because i want to make sure that everything is fine but the fact is, if the plan is satisfactory, why would i have to worry about any of these in the first place?

In terms of reliability there was also similar concern as my site suffered frequent downtimes some lasting as long as 5 to 6 hours. i managed to get in touch with the support team and despite the assurance given on the upgrading of service done, the problem kept coming back until finally one day, i decided that it’s time i let it go in search of a better one. having said that, nevertheless let’s look on the bright side, at least their support staff is courteous and efficient to assist with all my queries lol!

To sum it all up, yes I would say that they might be cheap, but you have to remember, you get what you pay for.

BlueHost Review

I’m writing a review for Bluehost currently which I’m using for my A Gluten Free Guide site. Previously, I was using blogger but later decided to get my own domain and started searching for a host. A friend recommended Bluehost to me and being new to it, I’m a little bit reserved about everything. But after months of using, I’m confident I have enough experience in it and as such decided to write a review on it.

BlueHost Review

Features and Pricing (score: 4 out of 5)
The web hosting plan is pretty basic complete with cPanel and with a monthly price tag of only $6.95 for 1500GB of disk storage space and 15000GB of data transfer / bandwidth, I think it’s among one of the most price competitive in the market. Among the features worth mentioning here is the unlimited number of full domains and of sub-domains allowed under the one account. Although this is not something I would shout about, it serves my hosting needs well and caters for my site’s traffic.

Reliability and Uptime (score: 3.5 out of 5)
So far, I can say the overall uptime for any particular month is always on the high side. I haven’t had any major problems with this issue and I only had one sour experience, which occurred sometime back when it was down for almost 4 hours and later the FTP becomes inaccessible. However, the problem was solved after I contacted the support department and everything went back to normal.

Technical and Customer Support (score: 3.5 out of 5)
As mentioned earlier, the staff was generally helpful and most of them can really dig deep when it comes to technical questions. Even when I opened a number of support tickets simultaneously, I found that all of the replies were prompt and accurate.

Miscellaneous items (score: 4 out of 5)
Although there are certain features which I’m not currently using at the moment, some can come handy like the Fantastico scripting feature, support for OS Commerce Shopping Cart and Perl language compatibility.

Overall score: 15 out of 20 points

Conclusion
Definitely one of the recommended hosting provider if you are those bargain hunters. I can say that the overall service so far until now was generally pleasant and I won’t hesitate recommending this to my other friends.

Review of Host4Profit

I used Host4Profit for several years and all I can say is that it worked perfectly for my needs all along but I moved away after I realized there were many other good hosting companies available and less expensive too.

Review of Host4Profit

There are several good things about Host4Profit.
For instance, they offer their customers the possibility of earning money by using their “Money-Making Plug-In Sites” and they pay commissions by referral. Next to this, they also have a forum where you can get help, make deals and create partnerships to increase your business. You get a life time membership once you become a customer.

Their Control Panel is easy to use and allows you to do everything you need to do with your site.
They provide full support for all server related question and always responded fast to my questions.

Actually they even have a promotion called: a free Bahamas’ vacation, which works like this:
Anyone signing up 500 active accounts with them in a six month period will receive an all expenses paid vacation to the Grand Bahamas’s.
They even say that they will try to be there with the winners, sort of ‘trying to make a family out of a business’. It’s a shame I never made it that far

They also promote the Plug-in profit sites which are complete sites created to sell some ‘eBooks’ and which are available for your name and address, (yes, you can put them on your domain) once you plug in your information. I did not try this so have no idea if it is worth the effort. You get to keep 100% of the income.

These are the names of the plug-in sites:
eBay Secrets Revealed, it sells for $14.97
E-Mail Marketing Strategies Revealed, it sells for $19.95
eBay Marketing Secrets, it sells for $9.95 to $15.00
Internet Cash Machines, it sells for $14.97

This is how much they pay for referral:
Refer 1 Customer: $10 per month
Refer 1000 Customers: $10,000 Per Month (that would be cool!)
Of course the people you refer have to stay with them!
In my time I had 1 referral and although it did not make me rich, it made my hosting cheaper.

Here some of their features:

Review of Host4Profit

Uptime & reliability: 10/10
server & connection speed: 9/10
technical support & knowledge: 9/10
customer service & billing: 10/10
price value for money: 7/10
overall rating: 9/10

Conclusion:
Why I stayed with them for so long? I was very satisfied with their services.

Review of Phatservers

I have been hosting with PhatServers for about 12 months now and I can honestly say that I am really happy with

the experience.

Review of Phatservers

The highest plus I can mention concerning their services is the

excellent technical support.

For instance, I had a few issues with installing new software

because I was not too familiar with PHP and databases and

PhatServers explained what I needed to do and how to do it,

also their technical support assisted me in installing various

scripts for no extra charge at all. I also had some security problems on one script I was using so they went in

and upgraded it for me to avoid any problems.

They also responded to every one of my support requests within minutes. Some other hosts I used would take
sometimes even 3 business days to answer my emails.

My website has not experienced any down time that I have noticed and it always loads nice and quick from anywhere

I try to log on from so I can recommend this host to anyone who wants a reliable provider because it has worked

out perfectly for me.

Also they use Directadmin Control Panel, which makes it very easy to administer your domains.

See this for just an idea of what they offer:

Review of Phatservers

I would rate it a 9 out of 10.

Review of All About Aquarium Fish

Review of All About Aquarium Fish

Review of All About Aquarium Fish

This blog created by Sock Yee from Malaysia, talks about fish and offers tips to start and maintain and aquarium nice and healthy.

I don’t own an aquarium and have never been interested in having one but after reading through this blog and specially seeing some of the pictures I can understand the fascination of watching the colorful fish swim in slow motion through the clear water inside your living room. Hypnotizing, you can probably spend hours watching. An Aquarium must be the coolest piece of decoration one can buy for a home.

I will not comment much on the style or layout since this is a blogger blog and therefore it has some limitations, but I can comment on the content and will say that a beginner aquarium lover can make a good start by just reading a couple of posts from allabout-aquariumfish.

Even though this blog is fairly new, there is already interesting information in it to get you motivated into starting an aquarium hobby. One can tell that Sock Yee cares and understands the little swimmers, this can be sensed through her posts on this blog.

Interesting information found: I had no idea that domesticated aquarium fish could be more colorful than their wild relatives as a result of selective breeding; or that you could actually buy fish through the internet and get them delivered to your home. (Not recommended)

This blog made me want to have an aquarium at home, not that I will do it right away but maybe some time…and when this day comes I will choose a Salt water Reef Ready Aquarium, because the fish that live in salt water have nicer colors and there is also a larger variety to choose from (thanks Sock Yee)

Review of The Diffusery

Review of The Diffusery

This site came in as a surprise and I mean it in a nice way.
The first time I went to The Diffusery website I was pleasantly impressed by its simplicity and attractive design. I love the way the home page opens up: very relaxed and with just enough information to get you going. It has what I call a good choice of colors and images.

What this site is about: The Diffusery sells reed oil diffusers and supplies; these are used to disperse scent into the air naturally without flame.
Let me explain a bit more: you take a nice bottle filled with aromatic oil and insert some reeds inside the bottle so that the oils can be diffused into the air creating long lasting aromas in your home, office, etc.

This may be new for you too; honestly, for me it is the first time I hear about this, but it seems a simple way to decorate and give some nice fragrance to your home. The products the Diffusery sells are inexpensive, you can buy a complete set from US$ 15.99; this makes it a good gift idea that I am sure anyone would appreciate (make sure you choose the right scent for the right person).

They have several aromas you can choose from so you are most likely to find something you like. I am sure that people who use these oil diffusers once, will get used to them and come back for more once they become part of their homes.

The Diffusery sells each necessary item separately, bottles, oils and reeds.
You can choose your own bottle style, oil scent and reed. They have several bottle types in different colors, a long list of oil scents and reeds in different lengths.

About the reed’s lengths: here is where I came into a bit of trouble having to translate between inches an centimeters, call me lazy if you want.
Having said that and knowing that this product could generate good sales in my country (Spain) I come to the only minus point in this review: sales are only possible for USA and Canada. Too bad, perhaps in the future the international sales option can be added, in my opinion it shouldn’t be any different shipping to Canada or to Spain, DHL and FedEx provide good services almost anywhere in the world.

All in all: I rate this site with 5 out of 5

Review of Glutenguide

Review of Glutenguide

I must admit Im impressed at this blog, its rare to come across one with 100% original content with a great layout (which is user friendly)

Layout:

For a pre-set layout I must admit you have used it to its full potential, Im impressed how original and stylish it looks and I love the full use of thumbnails. Not many people use that to that extent and sometimes when they do it goes wrong but not this one.

Content:

Not the sort of thing I could spend hours reading, but I must admit again I was suprised. Well written content and all original. Normally you would only find 10% of original writing but it seems to be 100% yours. Well done on that.

Ease of use:

100% user friendly, due to the layout everything is within reach and you dont have to search constantly (like some sites)

Comments:

The only draw back I have seen is the host (no offence) but if you can get a .com or .co.uk and redirect your current to your site then I think it would be more accepted.

Over all:

Very impressed, keep it up

5 out of 5 smiles

Review of The High Tech Daily

The High Tech DailyThe High Tech Daily ( THTD )

If you are a technology freak looking for the latest info about technology updates and latest happening, then you might want to stop and check out The High Tech Daily. The blog is basically an all round technology bulletin board that covers just about any topic related to technology queries, from computer graphic cards, benchmark on the latest processors, motherboards reviews, up to the price comparisons for cool gadgets like laptops, mobile phones and ipod. Technology fans should not miss out this opportunity to learn and gain valuable knowledge apart from the fun and excitement on discovering new stuff. It should be an ideal site geared towards obtaining relevant information for your tech research and if you want to impress your friends on your knowledge in this field, what better site to go other than The High Tech Daily itself.

The blog is created and run by a guy nicknamed Saggygenius from India. The site is cleverly arranged in a neat and simple archive for easy navigation. It is updated regularly so that it follows the latest trend and it allows visitors to track the latest tech progress. If you are a first time visitor, the moment you arrive at the landing page, you will be instantly thrilled and wowed by the clean and simple 3D design. The blog is customized around themes using light blue text centered around a white and plain background. The images are clear and well enhanced so that all the tiny little details can be seen clearly. Despite the heavy use of images, the blog manages to load easily even on my old PC. The site design is fully optimized and the high praises and achievements were attained without even requiring flash or moving images. It sure fulfills all the criteria on what you would expect from a technology blog.

One of my favorite entries was a very recent review done on Feb 2008 about 9600GT GeForce 3D card. It provides a simple comparison with other cards similar in its class and the facts and details were straight to the point ensuring that reader won’t get bored with long babbling. Content is also fresh and actively added every month with new information, so that bloggers will keep coming back for more. The authors also did a good job to try to communicate with readers on the blog posts so that they will feel attached to it. However, one of the weaknesses, which the author can improve on, is the notable spelling mistakes seen on some of the posts but generally this is still acceptable as it is very rare.

Overall I would say this is an excellent blog and I rate it at 4/5 for now which is good considering there is still much room for improvement. If possible, I would like to see some improvements in terms of having a personalized and eye-catching header and a logo to make it stand out among the rest of technology blogs. To sum it all, I would say this is definitely a well-researched blog and it deserves all the credits it can get.
