Keeping the Flow by Managing Your Content

Not another article about content!” the readers began to yell. And all the poor writer could do was beg them for mercy.

Latest Webmaster News - Keeping the Flow by Managing Your Content

“Content is the lifeline, the heart of your web page” he said. “This discussion is giving you yet another option or tool to consider for providing your content and keeping it fresh and current.” Then the angry mob of readers settled down and agreed to let the poor helpless writer make his point. “It better be good” they said. The writer smiled and said “okay. I’ll do my best.”

After taking a deep breath, I would like to call your attention to what is called CMS. A Content Management System. In general it is used for the creation, editing, searching, publishing, and managing of your digital media. Whether it be a written text, video, audio or images and so on.

Popular uses of it are found in the publishing industry for news articles, operating/spec/tech manuals, sales and marketing brochures and so on. It is also how they control and store their content. You too can use this fine tool for your Internet needs.

For one thing if you are managing a web site consisting of articles and/or blogs it will allow you an easy way of granting others that you have selected to post their requested content. You also can post your personally written material this way. Usually it is can be used by a user name and password so your “hired” staff of writers can post the article by way of CMS and cut out a lot leg work for you. Of course you can have it programmed that you have final approval of the content before it is ever posted and shown to the public.

And if the article is to your liking but needs a few repairs? No problem. Your CMS program makes editing as easy as eating ice cream. That’s not all the good news either. Mmmmmmmmmm, ice cream. Sorry, I was distracted. Okay I’m back.

You can also comb the web to make sure that any submitted article is not a duplicate of an already existing article. How about that?

You can also set up your CMS so that you can insert your own keywords. Some CMS programs will offer to do this for you but it is better to have the flexibility to do it yourself. There are plenty of free key word programs to help you decide on the best ones.

Keeping on that theme it is important to keep in mind how search engines work. Not all CMS programs are what is considered SEO friendly. Make sure as you set up your CMS that you can still have the adaptability to apply SEO strategy in the marketing of your web page. It has also been suggested by many experienced web business gurus that you should also use CMS programs that have been established as compared to a brand new one. That doesn’t mean that any of these new programs will not prove themselves to be useful but I think the recommendation is sound and practical nevertheless.

“Well there we go” said the writer. “That wasn’t that bad was it?” The fact is, as unimpressive as this may appear, it is very helpful practical time saving tool. And once it is set up it is very easy to use for the most part. It is quite similar to using a template is many ways. Remember the more time you have to spend on creating new content the better. And the easier it is to organize it and get it together is a needed bonus. The easier it is for your hired guns to submit their contributions the better and more a part of the process they will feel. All of this adds up to your content, the heart of your web page, pumping life into your web site.

So why just go with the flow when you can control your own flow and keep it going? Make your blog or web page manageable in more ways and set yourself up with a good CMS.
