Blog Marketing and Advertising

Many people utilize the Internet everyday to make an income to sustain them. A lot of people make this income by selling either their products or other company’s products (affiliate marketing). With the growing popularity and expansion of blogs, many people are jumping on board and using blogs to market and advertise products. This process is known as blog marketing which is simply marketing via a blog or video blog. This can greatly increase your chances of selling a product because unlike a company’s website where the content stays virtually the same, a blog has new posts being made, sometimes even twice a week.

A lot of company’s as well as individuals will resort to building and using a blog to sell and gather feedback on their products. Blogs allow readers to read about a certain product and then leave feedback, either positive or negative, usually in the form of a comment. A company or individual could update and existing product or come out with an entirely new product and then simply create a new post on their blog to advertise it. If that company or individual were to do that on a website, then it would require a ton of editing and maybe even a whole new webpage which can get complicated and sometimes pricey.

Some people will utilize a blog to sell other people’s products; this process is known as affiliate marketing. There are thousands of different affiliate programs out there that will pay you a portion of each sale that you make. A sale is made by you placing either a banner or text link within the content of your blog, a reader that is interested in the product being advertised will see this banner or text link and possibly click it. The link will have your referral number attached to it, so if a person were to purchase the product using the banner or text link placed in your blog, the company will know that the sale was made possible by you and therefore pay you a percentage of the sale.

Whether it is a company or an individual using a blog to sell their own products, or an individual using a blog to sell other company’s products, the key to generating income is traffic. Yes, you may have banners, text links and content describing and linking to that product, but what good is it if you have nobody coming to your blog to click on it. The people that visit your blog is known as traffic, successful and revenue-generating blogs have high levels of traffic coming in every month which results in clicks and sales. The more clicks and sales you get, the more money you will generate. Try to focus some time and effort into building up the traffic levels coming into your blog.

Listed above are two proven ways to generate income by use of blog marketing and advertising. An individual or a company can incorporate the use of a blog in conjunction with the products that they are selling, in hopes of increasing the sales. The next way would be to use blog marketing and advertising for affiliate marketing which is where an individual sells another company’s products or services and earns a portion from every sale made. Both of those methods can become a great source to generate revenue, they just have to be tapped into and taken advantage of properly.

Making an Online Income with Blogging

Recently, there has been a craze regarding more and more people wanting to make a living or at least another source of income on the Internet. There are many different ways that people use such as surveys, signing up for offers, selling items, affiliate marketing, freelancing and more. Well did you know that you can generate income simply by building and maintaining a blog? The truth is, you can make money from blogging and it really is not that hard, just takes a little time, effort and the following of a few steps.

Once you can safely say that your blog is doing pretty good and you have healthy traffic levels coming in every month, then you can start to think advertisers. You can begin to promote yourself and putting yourself out there so that various different advertisers can see that your blog is doing well and may want to advertise with you. If advertisers do not find you as quickly as you would like, then by all means go out and find them. Once a relationship has been established by you and a potential advertiser, then you can begin to discuss all the specifics such as how much they will pay you and the details of what exactly they want you to stick on your page.

Instead of finding all kinds of different advertisers for your blog, simply use Google’s Adsense program to do all of the advertising for you. Google will generate relevant ads for your blog by determining the keywords and content that you currently have. The downfall to using Adsense rather than an advertiser is that Adsense has a much lower pay rate than advertisers. You can actually make money literally minutes after signing up for Adsense but the revenue you generate every month can vary. If you have a lot of traffic coming into your blog every month then Adsense could make you a hefty income to look forward to at the end of every month.

Last but not least, you can always utilize affiliate marketing to generate an income from your blog. The Internet is home to thousands and thousands of different affiliate programs so chances are you will find an affiliate program that would completely match what your blog is about. Using an affiliate program essentially means that you are selling a particular company’s products for them and you will receive a portion of the money from sales that you generate. Most affiliate programs have banner ads that can be placed on your blog, but it has been proven that hardly any revenue is made from banner ads, rather all the money is made from text links that are placed intricately within the content of your blog.

Those are the three top rated ways to generate some kind of an income from your blog. The income you make can be large enough to live on or small enough to buy a few groceries, it all depends on how popular your blog is and how many blogs you have up and running successfully. The more blogs that you have that are bringing in traffic and clicks on the ads, the more income you will generate; that is rather obvious when you think about it. You will not make a dime until you have a blog, so you may want to get started as soon as possible with building your very own blog.

Close up: Pay Attention You Recruiters

Webmaster News Blog - Close up: Pay Attention You Recruiters

“Dude, you got to try this place out. It was off the hook!” Who hasn’t uttered these words or the basic sentiment? When you did, you were doing some recruiting. Yeah the old word of mouth endorsement is in essence recruiting people to sign on to a place of business.

Of course the world of recruiting is also a bit more than talking people into going to a restaurant or using a certain service. It can be getting people to join the military or to join a member club. It can also be getting highly qualified people to join a company. The fact is: it is a career.

As we have discussed here many times, recruiting also has an Internet presence and the Internet is an integral part of the process. Ironically some recruiting is for Internet applications. For instance getting people to join a member dating site is quite popular. And that is of course something you can do from the comforts of your home.

Here in the Close up series we are taking a look at some web pages that are in an Internet arena and how they present their site to the public. Face it we can read about something and learn a great deal but it is always helpful to see a visual example now and again.

Now this is the part where I remind you that the examples chosen are totally random. We are not endorsing them and we are not telling you not to patronize them either. We are simply pointing out the features of their web page and how it may help you as a guide.

So here we go. While you are reading this article pull up http://www.recruitersnetwork.com/. You will find these types of web sites in many Internet business services. They are sites dedicated to the genre or the niche market in general. It is also a business of its own. This particular site is helpful to recruiters, people who may be interested in a recruiting career/job, and as an overall source of information.

As you first see the Home Page it is very businesslike, which is not a problem of course. Their logo and name are right at the top and to the right. They also have a tag line that gives you a “nutshell” of who and what they are. “The Association for Internet Recruiter” is their tag line. To the right of that they have a banner ad, always a good idea. A banner ad is usually part of an affiliate program. And it is usually more valuable right at the top of the page, meaning you can charge more or receive a higher pay per click compensation.

Under the header is a nice blue tool bar giving you the layout of the site and the choices of areas you can visit. Ironically one of the options is a membership. They are recruiting you. I believe it is free too. Along the left column is a nice menu including a newsletter option to sign up for and a forum. Forums are always a good option. It allows people to ask and discuss things with others and they feel a part of the “team”.

The center section is somewhat of a rehash of the top blue tool bar only with some more specific topics or options to choose from. Along a column on the right is a “must have” item. It is a site search bar. Beneath the search tool is an ad box with some relevant ad sense ads, very easy to set up and a beneficial option. Scrolling down the page you will find some more banner ads made up of affiliates and/or sponsors; always a good choice to offer relevant businesses to your genre or niche market.

Going back up to the blue tool bar at the top of the page: As you scan the cursor over the options you will be given more choices that are related to the “category”. Among them are articles to read and even a jobs section.

Now for examples of the recruiting of on line subscribers that is usually something that is done through an email campaign and/or a social network site. You will find mentions or invites on Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace quite often. Keep your eyes open and don’t delete it. No you may not be interested in the site or service but check out the manner in which the recruiter does his pitch. If you are thinking of being that type of recruiter you may appreciate a tip or two. Hey and some of the sites pay up to $30 bucks for a new recruit! That is what my research has found. There may be higher commissions out there that I don’t know about. But I have seen anywhere from $5 to $30 for each new member or subscriber you deliver.

So there we have it, a couple of “see for yourself” tangible examples. The beauty of these type of examples is that not only is it a web guideline but it often offers information of how to get into the field and sometimes helps you to promote yourself in that field. Hey maybe that is your field of dreams!

Close up: Selling Products In An E-Commerce World

Webmaster News Blog - Close up: Selling Products In An E-Commerce World

Have you ever been in a touristy region or a shopping district? Inevitably there are the main stores and the stands selling their products but you will have the occasional “walking salesman” with merchandise “up his sleeve”. You know that guy; he is very persuasive and very willing to negotiate. Anyhow, “that guy” may slyly pull some watches and necklaces out of his pockets. That’s because we are a visual species and we like to see what we are talking about.

Most times it simply gives us clarity and the ability to make an educated decision. And of course it is a very effective way to illustrate something we are teaching or explaining. Yes we have been discussing a variety of online businesses and their applications. We also have been able to analyze the ways we can use this information. So why stop now?

For this article we are going to take a look at an E-commerce site for some tips. Without further ado then, pull up another tab or another window and take a look at http://shoeguru.ca/. This is the part where we remind you that we are not endorsing or criticize this company and their site. We are giving you a visual of the many options that you have in setting up and designing your site. This site is reportedly very successful at selling, guess what? Your right! Shoes. When you first see the site is dominated by a nice black background. Admittedly, I prefer black. Now they also decided to take a very simple look with bold graphics and images, which is a nice touch.
They have their logo prominent on the left and standard guide to the right at the top of the page. Worthy to note is that I think the color selection is weak. Remember even if you are keeping things neutral and fashionably simple you still need to be sure it is easily read.

The soft color may be hard for many to easily pick up. I like how they have a slide show type graphic and image presentation. It’s very well done. When you click on the options like “men” or “women” you are brought to a cool graphic that gives you style choices. When you choose a style you are brought right to pictures of product and prices.
Their concept is to be trendy and different. The home page is not splattered with product and brands, etc. Not this is an interesting trade – off. On one hand it is not cluttered with options. On the other hand it appears to take a while before you get to products and prices. Although they do feature a nice sneaker and show “hip” young people wearing some shoes they sell.
I don’t know that there is a right or wrong, per say, but you do have to consider every detail and the perception or message that may be sent to the viewer. And this can be a minor or a major effect. The FAQ is always a good page to provide.
They start out by explaining the shipping information. They also address some other common questions. Another must to provide on an e-commerce site is the shopping cart. Their shopping cart I do not think is the greatest example of a shopping cart. But it wasn’t cluttered with a ton of stuff either. It is an example nonetheless.

To make an interesting contrast in the e-commerce world take a trip over to http://www.walmart.com/ to see a typical example of a department store installment of an e-commerce site. The shoe guru site is a handy example of a specialty item store, which is very prevalent in the Internet and e-commerce world. Anyhow we are now looking at the Wal-mart Home page. Very standard as far as major stores and their on line presence goes. Note however that Wal-Mart features a banner ad at the top of its page. The ad is ingenious because it advertises a product for another company but it is also an item they sell at Wal-Mart. In that sense it is not the classic affiliate ad. The purpose of this ad is not to send you to another web page but it is to get you to purchase that product.

Now if you think about to a few minutes ago when you were looking at the shoe guru site, you will recall that they did not have any affiliate ads or sponsorship ads. I thought that was interesting. That is also a reason I used them as an example. My point was to show you that there are different methods that people choose to use or not to use.

Back to the Wal-Mart Home page. Below the ad and next to the Wal-Mart log is a handy tool bar. It features a Store LocaterLocal Ad(s)Gift Cards & RegistryTrack Orders (Obviously on line orders)Sign inDon’t forget for a commerce giant like Wal-Mart they are cross promoting. They want people to go their stores just as much as they want people to shop on line. The left column is basically laid out like aisles of a store and departments. And they even have an option where you can go to sub divided groups (departments) of the groups.

Below the tool bar we discussed above is a search bar. That is always good regardless of what kind of web page you have. You can also go right to the cart. Below there are prominent ads for on line and store specials.
They also have some affiliate ads mixed in. For example at the time I wrote this they were advertising a new movie. Below the department section is a New Rollback section, Save Big Now Section (featuring some clearance items), and a What’s New section.
Below the ads and the directory is a customer forum entitled “Connect With Other Wal-Mart Customers Like You”. Under the forum section box is an opportunity to be on their email list. There is also an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed. It will alert you of new posts.

Finally at the bottom of the page is another directory of options. Among the choices are credit card applications and a help center. Wal-Mart also has an affiliate program. Yeah you can put a Wal-Mart banner on your site! So there you have it. 2 different examples of e-commerce sites. Of course there are plenty of others to check out and use as a reference.

The important elements are that you feature your product or products. It may be in a trendy way like shoeguru.com or it may be more standard like Wal-Mart.com. Of course Wal-Mart offers a host of products so naturally it will have a different presentation.

For an e-commerce site to be successful you also need to have simple and reliable delivery and clear and reasonable delivery charges. If your shopping cart is perceived as complicated you will lose sales! It is also good to be accessible to your potential customers.

So there you go you e-commerce entrepreneurs. Take the articles and information that is provided here and use some of the real life tangible examples that are all over the web including the 2 we considered above.
Good luck and keep plugging away!

Close up: Selling The Affiliate Concept

Webmaster News Blog - Close up: Selling The Affiliate Concept

When we read a book, who doesn’t like the pictures? Yes we live in a visual society and therefore we like to see examples of things after they have been explained to us or while they are being explained to us.

In the first article of “Close up” we examined a professional blog and the benefits of what it had to offer. Today we are going to look at another example. This time our web page is offering to help you get into and cash in on the affiliate market.

Now let me state up front that I randomly chose this site for an example and I am not endorsing it nor am I condemning it. I have no connection to it nor does Bevyhost in any way, shape, or form. So please do not put any extra meaning into the fact that we are using this other than an example of how one can feature the affiliate market.

Ironically this one caught my eye because it is an example of affiliate marketing and selling the concept of affiliate marketing at the same time.

Click another tab and pull up http://www.affiliatetips.com/. Yes it is a real web site. And again, we are just looking at it and its features for the purpose of this article.

At first glance we see a nice contrast of color mixed in with a white page. The top features their logo and their business name along with a couple tag ad lines; simple and positive message. Instantly you get the idea that they want you to get. They are telling you in a couple lines that this site is going to help you make money by using the right or best affiliate programs. They are also telling you it takes some work, “not magic”, but that you can do it. Notice they do not tell you it is easy or fast, because it isn’t that easy and fast.

The first paragraph under the logo is their mission or purpose statement basically, that’s always good to do. Unless it is painfully obvious what your site is for, you should tell people why they need to use your site.

In the box to the right of their opening paragraph is a list of affiliates or affiliate programs. Yes the site is stating it is going to guide you to the best affiliate sites and right out of the gate they give you a Top 10 list, Bada Boom! Naturally they provide the links for your convenience. Part of what they want is for you to use one of these as they will earn some cash for recommending them. Now note that does not mean that these people truly don’t believe that these programs are the best. They really may stand behind their claims.

On the column that occupies the space along the right side of the home page you will see a site search bar at the top. This is a must on any site. By typing in a keyword or phrase relevant to affiliate marketing it will direct you to the places on their site that cover that topic or include that keyword or phrase.

To make it even easier that column along the right side of the page provides a table of contents of sorts. The tables are broken into categories, articles, tools, and even spreadsheets.

Back up to the top but below the opening “what we offer” paragraph is a box showcasing some feature articles. Continue to scroll down and keep your eyes focused on the left side of the Home page you will see how they showcase more feature articles but they have broken down into levels of understanding for you. They have beginner and advanced articles. Adjacent to those choices are guides/reviews and the most recent articles.

Continuing down, still on the left side of the Home page you see another example of affiliate marketing. There you see a couple Google adsense ads. And f course, they are ads about affiliate marketing. I love it!

Now scroll back up a little bit and let’s look at the features below the Top 10 list, basically in what we call the center section of the Home Page. There they have provided you with a couple program tools. Tools that some will already know how to use and others will learn how to use. But it was clever to have them there for all levels of experience, for they are useful tools.

Under those toll boxes and still in the mid sections is a yellowish box. I thought this was another clever presentation. They created a feature of the month ad. If you missed the fact that they had this company listed as their #1 affiliate programs you likely will not miss this ad as the color contrast sticks out and the logo is prominently present. In this box or what many call a banner, you get a quick “motivational” pr persuasive reason to check this site out. Yeah you guessed it: that is affiliate marketing.

Scrolling down we see 2 boxes next to each other. These are there to help you use their site to the fullest and get a better education of the affiliate marketing business and its potential. As you can see they break it down into the 2 primary areas you use affiliates. If you are trying to cash in on sending traffic to another business or you are a business looking for traffic to be sent your way. Both are essential to the affiliate market.

The review list that is below the above mentioned boxes is very interesting. It is a review but it helps you get a picture of how affiliate marketing can be dissected and digested. It shows you the niche areas that are covered and maximized in the affiliate world. You have:

  • Software
  • Education
  • Dating
  • Mortgage
  • Shopping
  • Web Hosting

It also helps you to see the areas of how money is made. They score the quality of the programs, the base commissions, and the realistic expectations.

The section of 2 boxes below the review section offers you a couple ways for you to get involved with this site. And the bottom offers you more Google adsense ads. And the very bottom offers some of the standard choices mixed with site relevant options of :

  • About us
  • Advertise
  • Add Program
  • Contest
  • Directory
  • Disclaimer
  • FAQ
  • Job Opportunities
  • Resources
  • Privacy policy
  • Marketing Tools
  • Sitemap

So there is a prime example of how extensive you can get with an affiliate site. Look the driving force of this site is to get people to choose one of the featured programs they review and are discussing. They also hope many will check out the Google adsense ads. And they do appear to provide some useful info on their site.

So do you have a site or sites that you would like to get paid to send people? An area you believe in or are passionate for? A field you are knowledgeable of? Then your affiliate site can learn from this one.

Keep in mind of course this is just one example. Come back here on Bevyhost.com and we will feature some other examples that you can pick up some tips and understanding from. See you around!

Close up: Be Your Own Affiliate

Webmaster News Blog - Close up: Be Your Own Affiliate

You’ve seen them and you’ve heard them. Some are better at it than others. Some are obnoxious and others are inviting. What are they?

They are Southern Rockhopper Penguins! LOL I had you there for a second. No I am talking about self promoters. You know what they say “everything starts at home”. You got to believe in yourself first, right?

Look we are not talking about becoming an ego maniac and self righteous sound horn. We are talking about building a network by creating an identity, getting some credentials and a reputation. In music it is a matter of working your “chops” and getting heard.

Today we are going to take a close up of a site that can help you do that. Yes we could just tell you to do it, and we have. But we are going to give you a visual prop to drive the point home. By taking a look at this outlet you can begin to see how you can use your own site to promote yourself and/or create a site to do that.

By viewing this example you will also see that there are outlets out there that you can join and accomplish this method of self promoting.

While you are reading this article pull up another tab and go to http://ezinearticles.com/benefits/. If you have been playing along with us here at Bevyhost you may recognize the idea of an e-zine. That is rhymes with cuisine or magazine.

Let me emphasize here that we are not endorsing or trashing this web site. We are using it as a simple example. It will show a style or type of self promotion you can utilize but it is just one example.

The top of the page has nice logo and the page is quite simple. White background, black font, and red borders. Some blue text lines snuck in here and there.

The left column of the page is your “table of contents” section. It is classically set up to help you narrow down your choices. The top box of choices is titled “E-zine articles for authors”. The next section below that is “For publishers” followed by “For everyone”. Each section has a few topics to digest.

Under these sections, still in the left column is a search bar. A must for every web page! The next section below offers some of the Google ads that are offered for various types of visitors or users and below that is a product being offered. Offering a product, a gift, a sample, is always a nice way to supplement your self promotion.

The entire middle and main section of this page we are looking at covers a plethora of reasons why you should and how you should promote yourself. Naturally it is accentuating the reasons you should use their site to do so.

For the purpose of this article we do not need to analyze the entire presentation. The point is that they went to a lot of effort to cover all relevant points and benefits they feel prudent.

The concept here is to put your talents and making your mark in action. This is not a blatant, “look at me” or “I’m great because” it is demonstrating your skills through written articles. You are “exposing” yourself! Hey you know what I mean.

If you were to click on any of the number of options on the right column you will see more information that is meant to help you use their site, which is an option if this site appeals to you. But the point again is very simple.

One way to use affiliate marketing to your advantage is to put out a series of articles showcasing you. By you being you and finding outlets to present you, you will have the opportunity to direct people to your site and your business.

Keep in mind if you are not a good writer, you always have the option of getting a good writer to help you out. And remember this is about presenting yourself in a practical way, a real life scenario so to speak. By you writing and expressing yourself in an area that you specialize in, people will get the sense of how you can help them and why whatever service or product you have on your site is worth going to! Yeah think about it.

Branches: Affiliate Management

Webmaster News Blog - Branches: Affiliate Management

Often we do not realize how many people are involved or the management organizing the work to be done and by who.

Management is a mainstay in business from retail to corporate offices, from factories to services. At times it seems that places are over managed and micro managed or that there is pointless supervision. Frankly that is more of a result of poor and inadequate management. Realistically speaking management can be make it or break it responsibility. Or at least it can be a boon or a hindrance to the success of a business.

So here we are back at our Internet affiliate marketing tree and taking a gaze at another branch of affiliate marketing. It’s affiliate management. How’s that important?

Truth is that the Internet has past the novelty stage a long time ago. It has moved into the big leagues. This arrival of Internet impact has happened much faster than many, if not most of us ever thought it would. This has been obvious in the retail and advertising/marketing applications of Internet business. As a matter of fact the approach to Internet business has become just as intensified and as detailed as off line business.

For many years many web operators have taken the responsibility of handling the advertising and affiliate and marketing duties. And many still do, and if successful that is fine. However the Internet market has grown or increased exponentially. Sadly some people’s efforts have resulted in spamming or copyright infringements and like legal issues. And simply put the competitive edge and marketing requirements have escalated as more and more business is being conducted on the Internet.

This means that marketing which was successful in the past is not yielding the same results now for the most part. This has led to a demand of a higher level of affiliate marketing and web page maintenance. Yes affiliate management.

The intriguing aspect of this is that this opens the door for independent affiliate managers. Surely this also means that companies large enough to house an Internet staff will need to include hiring someone to manage their affiliate program. However, for a number of reasons even larger companies are using freelance or independent services to manage their web needs and affiliate program.

This may be your opportunity. Maybe you have what it takes to be what many call an OPM, Outsourced Program Manager. Fa shizzle! Yes whether you offer yourself and the management it takes to carry a top notch affiliate strategy or that plus the staff to put into action the opportunities and the needs are out there.

Remember this is not a matter of managing people but this is management of a philosophy and a methodology: Today’s Internet business and affiliate marketing demands a professional approach and someone who knows what to do. That includes consistency and attention to details. Knowing the market and being flexible is also needed.

Why not look into this area of Internet affiliate marketing and The Internet affiliate business? It could mean a career or it could mean a supplemental income. Nothing wrong with either!; especially in today’s economic climate. The needs of the market are there, nevertheless.

It’s important that you keep at it also. Be patient. It may take some time to find the right situation or opportunity. Or it may take a while to build a clientele. Don’t be frustrated by starting small. Not to mention there is plenty to learn to prepare you to offer OPM services.

So why not get started? Yes the demand will most likely continue to grow but you know what they say? “There is nothing like the present!”

The Internet Garden: Growing Affiliates Part 2

Webmaster News Blog - The Internet Garden: Growing Affiliates Part 2

In fact sometimes you plant certain veggies with a certain dish in mind. One unique combo is mixing corn and lima beans to make succotash. Actually some people even add tomatoes and peppers to their succotash. But the corn and lima bean is the primary ingredients. I have read that succotash was a huge hit during the American Great Depression. However we are not here to discuss recipes.

In a practical application you can make some Internet succotash from your Internet Garden. One primary ingredient will be you affiliation marketing business. We discussed earlier in Part 1 of the Internet Garden series how you can create and affiliation or partnership between you and another web site and earn an income by sending traffic their way. We reviewed how you could have a web site devoted to inviting people by direct methods to visit your affiliate’s sites. Mainly the direct method would include the use of written text, audio, and even video content to highlight the reasons why people should go to your affiliate’s site.

For this article we are going to consider another way to benefit from affiliation while operating your own web page featuring your own purposeful content. If you are not doing this already you should start. The precedent for how this works has been around for a long, long time. One example is often found at your doorstep in your local newspaper.

Whether it is a free publication or a typical newspaper it is chock full of reporting and editorial mixed with an ample supply of advertising. Realistically this is a key component to a news paper making money. Oh they will gladly take your 50 cents or 75 cents, but the advertising is there bread and butter. This concept is the model of the affiliation we were going to mull over.

To set this up we are going to say you have a web page to promote your Financial Planning business. Your page is well designed and very easy to navigate. On your site you offer some good advice and give visitors well developed reasons to solicit your business and how they can benefit from your advice. You even offer some DVD’s and workbooks available for purchase that will help people to take control of their finances and hopefully for their financial future.

Surely it is not difficult to conclude that you are hoping to make some money from your services for hire and your related products. That alone makes your web page advantageous, valuable and potentially profitable. However the Internet garden can make Internet succotash remember. So you have the “corn” part of your succotash from the main purpose of your web page. Where are the lima beans?

That will grow out of your affiliate marketing. Being that your site is a Financial Planning business you will arrange affiliates with web pages that are related to your services or sites that can be reasonably matched with your site. For instance on our site you may feature banner ads featuring Investment companies, banks, stock brokerage firms, and so on. You may also include ad sense ads also featuring similar type ad lines.

Banner ads and ad sense can work in a parallel and complimentary fashion. If you do not know what a banner ad or an ad sense ad is by all means find out. We have articles here that you can consult as a matter of fact.

Basically speaking though go back in your mind to our news paper comparison: The ads you find in image form is comparable to a banner ad. A banner ad customarily features a company logo or some other kind of catchy image. Unlike a news paper ad, however, a curious reader can simply click on the banner/image and be taken on the cyber highway directly to the affiliate sight. An ad sense is similar in many ways. However it is not an image, it is an ad line. Something you would see in a news paper classified ad style.

Both ads can be set up in such a way that you receive income on a pay per click basis, which means exactly what it sounds like. A monetary value is assigned to each click that sends someone to your affiliate. You also have the option of selling banner space or an ad line link for an agreed upon fee. This is what many know as a sponsorship style ad, also very common in the secular world. You usually charge on a month or yearly basis based on the popularity and traffic on your site.

There is no question that this is successful. To start out it will at least offset the cost of running your own site. So while some people falsely assume that it is not worth it you won’t make that mistake.

Branches: Building Ads For Affiliates

Webmaster News Blog - Branches: Building Ads For Affiliates

Remember climbing trees as a youngster? For those of you like me who are have a fear of heights, the trees we climbed were not very high were they?

As you got up the trunk and up into a nice sturdy branch you took a seat in your perch and smiled over your accomplishment. Not to mention that trees were pretty cool to us when we were kids. Heck they still are really cool; we just don’t climb them anymore.

As you sat there you and your friends would start daring each other to go out on the limb a little further. And if the limb was firm, thick, and solid you probably did. But if you weren’t too sure you decided that where you were was just fine.

Decisions in life are like that also aren’t they? And being prudent is usually a wise course. But sometimes maybe the limb is stronger than we realized. And so it is with business decisions maybe we just haven’t done our homework and we are hesitate based on lack of information.

Let’s take the Internet affiliate marketing business. Many of us might shy away thinking, I don’t really have anything to sell or I am not really an advertiser. But there is more to affiliate marketing than that.

For example let’s take the ads used for affiliate marketing. One type of ad that is used is an image box called a web banner. It is an image representing another company and clicking on that ad image will take the web viewer to that company’s site.

The simple reality is that these ads have to be put together. Now in many cases it is very easy once an image is available, usually the company logo. However there is a need for logo’s and other designs to be created. Maybe that is your gig. Are you a graphic designer or an illustrator? Then you are needed in the ad banner making for affiliate advertising.

Yes many marketing people may have the sales pitches and the word skills but there is nothing like a great image to support it. That’s where you graphic and illustrators become an important element. Reversing that we realize that there is also a need for the word wizards. Yes the words in these ads also need to be clever and persuasive.

Speaking of words if you have had a chance to keep up with our discussions, you may have read earlier articles on affiliate marketing. One popular affiliate marketing method is the direct writing of content featuring the web pages you are inviting people to go visit. This type of marketing will make positions possible in writing, proofing, editing, and other tasks related to putting articles together.

Somewhere in the middle of all this you may have the talent or may need to implore the talents of someone who can sell the ad space or sell your service to create these ads. Or to sell the service of creating appealing content that will endorse and recommend an affiliate site.

Are getting the pattern here? Maybe you’re just climbing the tree and you want to go out a little further or climb a little higher but you are afraid. Once you realize it is safe then you are good to go.

So here you are climbing the affiliate marketing tree. Regardless of how far you have gotten so far, keep looking ahead and being convinced of how it is safe to proceed. Yes do your homework. You may fit in somewhere that you were not aware existed or in a way you previously thought you did not fit in.

Don’t be bashful and of course don’t be reckless. By all means though understand that there is a vast wide world open to you. It’s possible that it is in the affiliate marketing business.

The Internet Garden: Nourishing A Recruiting Business

Webmaster News Blog - The Internet Garden: Nourishing A Recruiting Business

I used to manage a car wash many years ago I was surprised that the owners, who were successful in their own right, lacked some basic common sense when it came to business. At the location I worked at they had purchased the business from another owner who built up a nice business but was at an age where he wanted to retire.

When I started there I had not been aware of the level of business that the previous owner had established. I was also new to the car wash business. As I was learning the ropes I was concerned that we were very slow. We were doing about 20 -25 cars in a 12 hour day. I decided to drive around on my day off and see what other car washes in the area were doing. The first thing I noticed was that our prices were a bit steep for the service we offered. We were charging $7 a car at the time. $10 for a premium wash. The other car washes in the area were charging $5 to $6 for a basic wash and $8 – $15 for a premium wash. Note the more expensive premium washes included an inside cleaning also. We did not have that service. We had separate vacuum areas for people to do their own interior.

This led me to search the computer for our costs. I also found data from the previous owner. According to his records he was charging $5 for a basic wash and $7 for a premium wash. I also found out he was averaging 150 cars a day in the summer and 200+ in the winter. So while he was charging $2 less per wash he was making far more profit each day.

This proves the old rule of thumb that volume usually produces more profits than making a King’s ransom on each sale. I brought this up in a meeting and I was surprised that they did not see the obvious. They kept repeating that they were making more money per car so how can that not be better. Evidently math was not a strong subject for my employer. So I wrote it out for him. I also gave another example of an NFL franchise. I showed him how that you can sell 10,000 tickets for $100 and gross $1,000,000. But you can sell 50,000 tickets for $25 apiece and gross $1,250,000. You also have 5 times the amount of people buying merchandise, hot dogs and beer!

So we added and early morning and late evening $5 basic wash. Within a week our average number of cars went from 20 -25 to 80 – 100! A month later we went to $5 basic wash all the time and started doing over 100 cars a day in no time and by the winter we were closing in on 200. I moved on but I heard later that the numbers had continued to rise.

Now while there is a lot more to discuss related to the volume principle the fact is there is strength in numbers. And this is how many web sites make their money. That brings us to the focus of this article. Growing and Internet Recruiting business.

Again it is necessary to appreciate that there are various types of recruiting services. We are going to focus on 1 in particular. Bringing in numbers for subscription or member log in web sites. These types of sites add up to a monstrous industry of epic proportions.

Think of all the dating sites, music featured sites, high school alumni sites, meet up sites, make money sites, and on and on. Many of these sites are free but there are many sites that charge a small monthly or a onetime subscription fee.

Now some of these sites pay recruiters to persuade people to join, whether it is a free membership site or a monthly or onetime fee subscription site. There are quite a variety of these sites but let me give you a couple examples. I was a member of a site dedicated to help songwriters to improve their business skills to help in publishing their music. They charged a yearly fee of $100 that included a number of features. Within seconds of after I joined they sent me a way to bring on more members and that I would receive $25 for each new member.

I also know from doing some research that the vast majority of those making money invites you get in your email like, get paid to do surveys or sites selling “how to make money on line” programs offer a similar type “commission” style recruiting plan. I have been told that some of these sites pay you $30 for new subscriptions.

Without getting into the value of these sites the fact is you can make some money getting people to join those member sites. So what kind of recruiter are you?
Are you a go getter? Are you a person that can highlight the positives and explain the value of what each site has to offer?

Part of being successful at recruiting people to join these sites is knowing how and where to get the word out. Naturally using Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and so on would be a nice place to start. Also using email announcements has been proven to reap results.

Many people use their very own web site to promote these subscription sites. This is of course a type of affiliation marketing business also. Which in essence this type of recruiting is basically an affiliation marketing plan for the “home planet” web page.

I know that this is the type of business that may not be for everyone. Frankly some people find it obnoxious. Or some people do not want to promote the sites that offer such a recruiting referral program. However looking at the big picture the fact is these opportunities are out there.

What do you think? The reality of the matter is that this is one of the easiest Internet businesses to get into. You do not need extensive Internet skills or intricate design and application abilities. Of course it would give you a distinct advantage to have a reasonable amount Internet marketing skills. But it is very straight forward.

And so it is with this type of recruiting. It is purely a performance business when it comes to our income as it is a commission/reward concept. But for some people that is an easy concept to swallow. Maybe you are a recruiter then. Why not find out?
