The Internet Garden: Growing Affiliates Part 2

Webmaster News Blog - The Internet Garden: Growing Affiliates Part 2

In fact sometimes you plant certain veggies with a certain dish in mind. One unique combo is mixing corn and lima beans to make succotash. Actually some people even add tomatoes and peppers to their succotash. But the corn and lima bean is the primary ingredients. I have read that succotash was a huge hit during the American Great Depression. However we are not here to discuss recipes.

In a practical application you can make some Internet succotash from your Internet Garden. One primary ingredient will be you affiliation marketing business. We discussed earlier in Part 1 of the Internet Garden series how you can create and affiliation or partnership between you and another web site and earn an income by sending traffic their way. We reviewed how you could have a web site devoted to inviting people by direct methods to visit your affiliate’s sites. Mainly the direct method would include the use of written text, audio, and even video content to highlight the reasons why people should go to your affiliate’s site.

For this article we are going to consider another way to benefit from affiliation while operating your own web page featuring your own purposeful content. If you are not doing this already you should start. The precedent for how this works has been around for a long, long time. One example is often found at your doorstep in your local newspaper.

Whether it is a free publication or a typical newspaper it is chock full of reporting and editorial mixed with an ample supply of advertising. Realistically this is a key component to a news paper making money. Oh they will gladly take your 50 cents or 75 cents, but the advertising is there bread and butter. This concept is the model of the affiliation we were going to mull over.

To set this up we are going to say you have a web page to promote your Financial Planning business. Your page is well designed and very easy to navigate. On your site you offer some good advice and give visitors well developed reasons to solicit your business and how they can benefit from your advice. You even offer some DVD’s and workbooks available for purchase that will help people to take control of their finances and hopefully for their financial future.

Surely it is not difficult to conclude that you are hoping to make some money from your services for hire and your related products. That alone makes your web page advantageous, valuable and potentially profitable. However the Internet garden can make Internet succotash remember. So you have the “corn” part of your succotash from the main purpose of your web page. Where are the lima beans?

That will grow out of your affiliate marketing. Being that your site is a Financial Planning business you will arrange affiliates with web pages that are related to your services or sites that can be reasonably matched with your site. For instance on our site you may feature banner ads featuring Investment companies, banks, stock brokerage firms, and so on. You may also include ad sense ads also featuring similar type ad lines.

Banner ads and ad sense can work in a parallel and complimentary fashion. If you do not know what a banner ad or an ad sense ad is by all means find out. We have articles here that you can consult as a matter of fact.

Basically speaking though go back in your mind to our news paper comparison: The ads you find in image form is comparable to a banner ad. A banner ad customarily features a company logo or some other kind of catchy image. Unlike a news paper ad, however, a curious reader can simply click on the banner/image and be taken on the cyber highway directly to the affiliate sight. An ad sense is similar in many ways. However it is not an image, it is an ad line. Something you would see in a news paper classified ad style.

Both ads can be set up in such a way that you receive income on a pay per click basis, which means exactly what it sounds like. A monetary value is assigned to each click that sends someone to your affiliate. You also have the option of selling banner space or an ad line link for an agreed upon fee. This is what many know as a sponsorship style ad, also very common in the secular world. You usually charge on a month or yearly basis based on the popularity and traffic on your site.

There is no question that this is successful. To start out it will at least offset the cost of running your own site. So while some people falsely assume that it is not worth it you won’t make that mistake.

Network Equals Net Gain

Webmaster News Blog - Network Equals Net Gain

As the winners are announced they approach the podium with a big smile and a small acceptance speech. Ultimately it is the time to thank those who helped get them to this moment, and rightfully so. We all accept the reality that none of us gets anywhere or attain a level of success completely on our own.

In fact we all have heard or perhaps even said ourselves, “it’s not always what you do but it’s who you know”., which may be a bit over used and/or over simplified at times and yet basically true. Nevertheless we all need to be connected and interwoven in a network.

What is a network you may ask? For the purpose of this post we are talking about a circle of friends and associates that we share work related activity with, correspond with, and bond with. And it is not always as simple as that definition sounds. Why is that?

Quite frankly some of us are just not very good at it. Others do not give it enough thought or attention. Then there are those of among us who have no clue of how to build a network. Let’s address some of these obstacles.

However first we ask, why would you need a network or to engage in networking? Embellishing on our introduction let’s delve a little more into the why.

Connections are not always a “someone on the inside” doing you a favor. Connections often times are simply relationships that we have established that has established a trust and a familiarity with others in the field of interest that we are. So let’s continue in that theme in an Internet business endeavor. Your network is going to assist you and get you and your business “out there”. Yes a network gets people to know who you are and what you’re about.

Okay there you are in whatever aspect of the Internet business arena that you are in. Maybe you run a site, or write for websites, design, program, manage, promote, market, and so on. No matter where you are in the on line food chain you should be connected to those who are in the other areas that we just mentioned. And of course those who do the same things you do should be in your circle or your loop. This is your network. Not to be left out is trying to mingle with prospective customers or participants of your Internet enterprise. That would be your extended network.

The key is you need to build a network but you also must network (as in verb). Aside from the work that you do in line with your primary on line job, you should set aside a reasonable amount of time to connect with people and to instigate friendships, associations, and affiliations. You’re basic schmoozing and rubbing of elbows. Naturally this leads to obvious benefits.

Yes the net gain of networking is vast and important. With more friends and legitimate associates you can learn a lot and improve yourself at what you do, for beginners. You also will gain access to events and happenings that you would probably never find on your own.

Among the people you bond with, their newfound trust in you and your reliability will open opportunities. Perchance they need your help or know of others who need your help, which the probability of either and/or both is enormous. The more they know about you and the more confidence your network associates have in you will only improve the likelihood that you will be called upon. Frankly it will greatly increase that likelihood significantly.

The wider you extend and the more expansive you make your network, will only augment and broaden the potential for letting others know of your talents and your abilities. And it will also widened the net that will catch feelers of the needs of others who need your know how.

Assembling a network will be calculated but also a voluminous aim. That means you need quality “friends” but you also need quantity. Now that doesn’t mean that everyone and anyone will be included. In time you will learn the proper balance of where to draw the line of who to network with. The trick is to keep the pool of friendships related to the Internet goals you are striving for.

Another vital must is: do not be transparent. Be genuine and do not use people or give the impression that you are using them. Just like our entertainer in the beginning, the people in your network will become part of a support group and a team that will accomplish things together. So don’t burn bridges or try and guilt people or make them feel they owe you. This also means that you will have their best interests at heart. It should be a help each other operation.

Where to start? Any business network starts in the terrestrial world. Yes with your friends in your daily life. But it goes far beyond that. It goes to their friends for example. But with the Internet the world has gotten smaller. So reach out and touch the world through the Internet connections. Utilize social sites, forums, email, instant messaging and so on. And remember their friends can be your friends in no time.

Don’t forget now, this is a win/win situation. And what about those who are thinking right now “I do this and it isn’t helping?” Well for one thing chances are you are to heavy in quantity an lacking in quality. You may have made many good friends and you may have been helped some or have helped others. Only it hasn’t gotten you where you want to be. That is because your network is not complete or expansive enough. Many of your friends are basically in the same boat as you. Or you are on the same cruise ship but you are networking with people on the same floor as you. You need to fraternize with those who have had more success than you.

Now look I am not suggesting a social status inferior/superiority complex or that there is anything good or bad about being who you are. What we are talking about is learning and initiating a healthy friendship with people who are more experienced than you are in the field you want to be successful at. Simply put, 2 beginners can only help each other so much. And a beginner and a novice will only get so far. Neither of which is a bad thing. But the people who make progress are people who team up or network with others who are more accomplished and more plugged in then you are.

New to the network game? Or have you networked and yet feel as if it’s gotten you nowhere? Relax, this is not a reason to panic or give up. This is a time to go through your network and identify what is missing. It may even be a matter of reaching out to some of your friends who have a better knack for developing a network, which ironically is a part of the point of having a network.

So now that we have come full circle, that leaves the rest up to you.

Why should I have a Facebook Account?

Webmaster News Blog - Why should I have a Facebook Account?

More than 250 million active users around the world can testify that Facebook is not a wonderful tool for socialize almost everything but is also a new social lifestyle.
I can tell you a lot of reasons, benefits and advantages you can get through the use of Facebook but we could write a book about that.

Last week I was talking with a friend about the amazing advantages of Facebook as a powerful social networking solution. My friend told me that she knows a girl since she was in primary school and when she moved to other city, unfortunately she lost any kind of contact with this persona don’t having access to her anymore. Then, almost 10 years later, she can have contact with her because a she is friend of other friend she has and it was the point of contact to meet again.

It is incredible the power of Facebook as a mechanism for share information, talk about things of your interest or just speaking with your friends about those things you want. Despite of all the disadvantages some people talk about Facebook, in the real world you should have to face the same disadvantages as everything in the life but you should see the positive aspect of the things.

Facebook is becoming a great social phenomenon that requires of time to socialize with people that are part of your network in Facebook and a will of interact with other people. If you haven’t any presence in Facebook or any other social network with similar features you probably will be a new kind anti-social because you are closed to the online social networking realm.

Everybody has an off-line life, but having also an online interaction is part of the new lifestyle of citizens of the world.

More Than Simply Posting A Link

Webmaster News Blog - More Than Simply Posting A Link

Are you that guy or gal that people come to for a chat? Maybe some advice or a listening ear? Did you ever think or ask yourself “why me?”

I can answer that for you. Aside from your endearing personality and your drop dead looks you have built up a reputation and a track record as being that guy or gal. Your interactions with people, the way you conduct yourself and the manner in which you give well thought out comments has registered in the minds of your peers, co-workers, or people you have crossed paths with.

What do you think would happen, if as people confided in you, you simply smiled and handed them a piece of paper that said ‘buy my book on Amazon.com and it will solve your problem’? Or what if someone had a work related question they knew you could answer and they approached you. Then after they described their situation you replied, ”Come over to my house later and maybe we will discuss it there”?

Realistically even if those responses were ultimately helpful it would come across a bit cold and calculated. People would assume you do not really care that much about their plight or need. Your reputation would likely be that you are one that doesn’t have much to offer them in the way of friendship or cooperation. Even the good intentions you may have will seem shallow and not without an ulterior motive.

Guess what? Some of us do something like this on the Internet when we are marketing our web site. And don’t kid yourself; you have to draw a fine line between soliciting web visitors and gaining the trust and having attractive spirit needed to build up visitor traffic, example?

Okay you have your spectacular web site and you are rightfully proud of it and what it offers. Let’s say your site is a financial advice page offering sound debt management, investment, savings, and lending counsel. It is called MoneySkills.com. On your site you explain and display your credentials and the opportunity that visitors have of retaining your consulting services. You even offer some informative CD’s and booklets that people may purchase.

As part of an aggressive and sound marketing strategy you frequent ‘money talk’ forums to promote your splendid site. You genuinely feel you have solutions and practical advice for people and you know they will benefit and enjoy your site. So as you scroll through the topics and threads you carefully select a handful of well observed threads to place your link. So while people are reading and posting they come across your comment and it says “I would love to help you with your money. Visit MoneySkills.com”, or something to that effect.

So what’s wrong with this picture? After giving it some thought you should have come up with a couple issues here. First of all just picture how it looks to the eye. The link appears shallow and disjointed from the thread conversation doesn’t it? It says to your forum friends “I am obviously only concerned with advertising my link. I could care less what any of you say!” Or maybe it comes across as “I don’t have time to engage in commentary, I am too busy with my web site”. It also puts out the thought or implication that “this forum is a waste of your time, go to my site where the real answers are”. Is that what you want? Do you think people are going to jump at the chance to visit your site based solely on a link?

Secondly, what makes your post or your site link any different from the dozens of others who simply post there link on forums and move on? You’re just another forum poser if you do that. “But isn’t it part of marketing to promote my site?” you insist.

Yes, indeed it is. And no one is saying that you should not post your link on forums. In fact everyone would agree that you should. But it is the nature of how you present it that will make or break the impact of posting your link.

Let’s use another scenario in life to drive home our second point. Imagine you’re at a picnic and you are meeting and greeting the other guests. What do you think of the people who right away start in on their business and the promoting of it?

“Hi my name is Cedric. So how are you enjoying the party?”

“Oh hi Cedric, I’m Siegfried. Well I have to tell you the burgers were great Cedric. But I would love to tell you about the shoe store I own. How are you and your family set with shoes, Cedric? Because if you need some shoes or just want to look at what we carry, I have a catalog with me that I would gladly share with you”
“Yeah, ah, no thanks theres Siggy”

Now picture instead the above conversation with a couple changes.

“Hi my name is Cedric. So how are you enjoying the party?”

“Hey Cedric, my name is Siegfried. I am enjoying the party very much, thanks. So where are you from?”

The two have a great conversation about who they know at the picnic and what their favorite way to grill steaks is and so on. Later on Cedric meets up with an old friend named Tom. Tom was late because he had to work that day. In fact he came to the party dressed for work in his shirt, slacks, and tie. As the two are talking Cedric asks Tom.

“Hey Tom, those are some nice shoes you got there, where did you get them?”

Tom replies “oh you see that gentleman over there, his name is Siegfried. He owns a shoe store across town. Great store and straight up guy” ……………………………..

Can you see the difference that would have on Cedric’s view of Siegfried and his shoe store? So now let’s go back to our forum scenario. What you need to do while on forums, is simply engage in compelling discussions about whatever the thread is hashing over and be an interesting part of the group. Share your experience and expertise as it relates to each progressive conversation. Gain peoples respect and trust. At the same time you discreetly display your link indiscriminately below your comment like a signature. In fact some forums have an arrangement where you can set up an ongoing signature. Make it big enough to notice but small enough as to not be “shouting” it out to the world.

The fellow forum readers should know you as the guy or gal that knows a lot about the topic and is a humble and considerate participant sharer in the group conversation. The presence of your link will eventually seem bigger in the eyes of those reading your thought provoking responses. Most likely people will begin to refer to your site and even ask you about it. Inevitably someone else will have clicked on it and will comment about it.

The reality is, selling yourself will sell your site. But be forewarned people smell a phony bologna. Be genuine and not transparent. Be helpful but not bombastic and a big talker. Answer peoples questions in a professional and personal manner.

That does not infer that you give away the whole shebang and all of your trade secrets. But you’re an expert for crying out loud. You should be able to give people adequate and complete direction and still leave reasons for them to make use of your web site.

Are we clear on this now? Cause I hate repeating myself. (lol) Seriously gang, don’t mail it in and choose the blitzkrieg method. When you’re on the forums of your choice, be a person not a “spam” machine. Post meaningful commentary and unpretentious remarks. As people enjoy your contributions, they will make a “profile” of you and as they respect you and your knowledge they will gravitate to your link.

Top 10 Internet Businesses: Recruiting Services

Webmaster News Blog - Top 10 Internet Businesses: Recruiting Services

“Fill out this form and get a free toaster” or “open an account with us and get this free digital camera”. Any of this sounds familiar? It should because there are a million variations of these “enticements” and incentives to get customers to come in all over the place. And why not? It works !!

And over the years this method has been tweaked and redesigned to include all types of methods. One of them is called recruiting.

Now some of us when we think of recruiting might picture the local military recruiter calling you around your graduation to see if you would like to come in and chat about your future. And others of us who are sports fanatics automatically think of College sports and the role that recruiting plays in putting together athletic scholarships for High School sports stars.

However even in these examples we can learn something about our topic of Internet recruiting. That’s because these types of recruiting accentuate the benefits of why you should go to the military or why should go to “Your State” University.

If you are the military recruiter for example, you will “promise” the kid that he will see the world and/or go to college on the countries tab. This free education will set you up for a job in your after military life and the military will make you a “man”, well unless you’re a woman. But you get the point. It will build character and discipline. Be all that you can be!

Free college and trips all over the world? Wow that’s awesome, right? Of course the recruiter doesn’t tell you he gets paid to meet a quota of “volunteers”. And that is not to say that if the military is something you want to do that you shouldn’t do it. That is a personal decision obviously.

So then what does an Internet recruiter do? Well let’s break it down. One type of Internet business recruiter is what some call a headhunter. Basically the recruiter hunts down prospective attractive hires for businesses looking to fill important positions that require a desired skilled set. The recruiter uses their networking, human relations, and persistence to screen and line up the qualified candidates to meet the hiring company. The persons who successfully earn their way through the hiring process naturally are offered a position. When any of these candidates accept a position then the recruiter is compensated for his find.

There are also are other recruiting jobs out there for the enterprising minds among us. Many web sites are set up for subscribers or memberships. Many of these offer financial rewards for recruiting new subscribers and members. Many dating sites and paid to survey sites use this formula. I have seen sites claim they pay $20 – $30 if you get people to sign on.

I would like to take this moment and make an editorial comment, however. Some of these paid to survey and adult dating / dating sites seem a little shady to me. I have heard of horror stories of how they get subscribers to join for a small fee and have hidden charges waiting in the wings for the unsuspecting newbie. Frankly to be honest and fair I cannot speak on behalf of the plethora of sites that are out there. But I am adding this paragraph in good conscience, to advise anyone looking into recruiting as a business, to do your homework! I do not condone companies that make false claims to get people to subscribe to a worthless web company. So be very leery about people who are promising you to get rich while you sit at home eating bonbons and caviar. No one made a ton of dough for doing nothing or overnight.

In order to be an honest and successful professional recruiter you will need a few skills and some education. You will need sales, networking, human relations know how, trade knowledge, and you need to be a disciplined go getter. If you would like to try your hand at referring subscribers and memberships than you basically just need to be a good sales person. Which I hope is not interpreted as a good liar. Seriously a successful sales rep will do better if they have a reputation for being trustworthy and up front. There is nothing wrong with selling people on joining a web site that offers real benefits, legitimate promises and entertainment options. And those sites are out there too.

Is this for you? Hey some are you may not possess professional computer or Internet skills but you know people and you know how to enthusiastically get people to try something new. Some of you are outstanding matchmakers and you know how to link people who need to be connected with people that can do. This is what a recruiter is.

And don’t think for one minute that is not valuable. Trust me on this. If you could bring a high percentage of blue chip High School athletes to one college and know absolutely nothing about sports, you would be hired in a heartbeat.

Results talk as a loud as money because your work will bring money to the companies you are recruiting for and it will bring some income to you. So get out there and start headhunting!

Taking It To The Streets

Webmaster News Blog - Taking It To The Streets

Everybody sing it with me…. “take this message to my brother ……… you will find him everywhere” . Yeah, you got it. It’s “Takin’ it to the Streets” by the American Rock/Pop band the Doobie Brothers, released in 1976.

Truth be told these lyrics written by singer/keyboardist Michael McDonald was a message to listeners that there are people in this world that are in desperate need. But the underlying memo to the world was to get the word out person to the person.

Many years later in the early to mid 1990’s a grass roots effort was born out of this philosophy, yes the music world was facing a crossroads of sorts. As the 1980’s introduced the rap genre’ to the recording industry the monopolistic like record labels felt threatened by the underground swelling popularity of the newer “gangsta rap”.

While big labels were shying away from the violence and anger of hardcore rap artists, young urban entrepreneurs in the recording and entertainment field were not. The fact is that rap music is very inexpensive to produce, record, and release compared to most other styles of music. As a result smaller record labels were popping up offering a host of “gangsta” artists to a growing rap hungry audience.

The reality is however that operating expenses were very tight compared to the big boys and girls. So as Indie record labels like Jive, Loud, Bad Boy, and Priority Records were putting together “gangsta rap” bands, they were a little short in the cash department for a competitive promotion and marketing plan. What would they do?

They employed a method that had been done to some degree in the past. They created what has become known as “Street Teams”. Literally speaking a street team is simply a group of devoted fans that bring your product or product awareness straight to the people. Within the “gangsta rap” community the idea was to create a fan base to bug local radio stations to play a particular artist or for local venues to bring in that band for a live show.

Legend has it that MC Hammer (Stanley Burrell) used to hand out demos of his work in the Oakland, CA playgrounds and Oakland, CA night clubs until he got someone’s attention. Similarly a couple teenagers from Indiana are credited with putting in motion what later became known as the KISS Army to promote their favorite rock band, KISS. As their impact grew amongst teens and was garnering attention, the band Kiss led by Gene Simmons wisely recruited these youngsters and organized them all over. By offering some coveted perks the band got these kids to spread the word in an organized fashion. This was putting a new meaning to “fan club”.

So the appearance of Street Teams was simply the latest slant on this fan club style marketing concept. How does it work?

  • Placing stickers and posters in their local area
  • Cheer leading and persuading friends to go to live shows
  • Convincing people to buy CD and Merchandise (T-shirts, etc)
  • Hounding local radio for air play
  • Getting songs out to clubs
  • Posting band news and announcements on forums and bulletin boards
  • Operating and/or maintaining fan websites and e-zine articles about band

How successful is it? Well the numbers don’t lie. “Gangsta Rap” grew out of the success of Street Teams. However it has mushroomed beyond the music industry. The street team philosophy has branched out into other businesses. The tech industry, media/direct marketing firms, name brand corporations, and other entertainment arenas like the sports and film/TV industry have put their own street teams to use. Some business folks are calling them “Brand Ambassadors” or as I call it “free promotion”.

  • Product awareness for companies
  • Promoting the sale of brand products
  • Promoting promotional products for brands
  • Promoting merchandise for celebs/athletes/brands

As odd as it may seem or as unlikely as it sounds, there is a percentage of people out there who take brand loyalty to an unprecedented level, although now it has become somewhat of a precedent. Some will interject that when it comes to the music artists and public personalities a street team will probably mostly consist of “teamers” from the younger generation. But that doesn’t and shouldn’t matter. The fact is these are loyal fans and people who want to contribute to your success.

A unique feature of this method is that Street teams can be supported and utilized all over the geographic map. This works out tremendously because the teams are working together and yet they will perform with pride as their own entity. It turns out these street teams feel a sense of accomplishment and duty for their product or band. They also seem to take it personal.

In return your street team will be rewarded with perks relative to your business or enterprise. As we mentioned before if you’re a band than you can dish out some premium merchandise, unique items, a steady flow of tickets and CD’s to your street teams. If you’re an athlete you may also reward your devotees with some autograph goods and some seats at a game. A benefiting company can honor their team and pass on some righteous savings and some freebies to their walking/talking billboards.

So are you a music artist, literal artist, author, entertainer or a company maintaining a presence on the Internet? Then why not assemble your own collection of volunteer street teams to spread the word about your out of this world products, your hair raising exhilarating music, your fab art, your classic novel and send them out on a ’seek and destroy’ promotional mission. In all actuality they are already there waiting for the thumbs up and your backing.

Game, set, match? Yeah boy! Word up on the Street? It can be if you enlist the support of your own group of supporters. Especially you aspiring bands out there looking to get your music heard and your CD’s sold. The street team has long been a staple for your advertising and people awareness. But by all means if you have a trendy item or sell brand name stuff that lends itself to the now, then put out the call and get the word out by taking it to the streets.

There are of course the cons of Adsense, these are negative impacts Google Adsense can have on your site.

The biggest blow you can get from using Adsense is the possibility of losing your account. This can be caused by many reasons, but the main reason is “click fraud”. This is supposedly when you are someone intentionally clicks your ads. Thus the advertisers are not profiting from ads and so your account is banned because it is no good to Adsense anymore. A crappy think about that is, that you may not be clicking your own ads. A competitor in your niche may even be clicking your ads in order to get you banned and make you lose money.

Any change you make to your Ads on your page can kill your earnings. Even the slightest move can see you losing hundreds of dollars if you are at that level. Thus it is said to keep your ads as they are once you have experimented your fair share. You also need to make sure you are getting visitors from search engines; they not only pay more but are better targeted.

Now if you can’t get traffic from search engines, you will see your revenue is lower and so may your eCPM be. It will all depend on how many visitors you are getting in the end though. This is nothing new as many sites don’t make money unless they are getting traffic from search engines.

Yet another big problem is you are forced to make a lot of good and quality content. This can mean you need to spend a lot of time trying to create quality content. However this may be easy for some, a lot of people are not the best at doing this. Thus they need to get work outsourced which costs them even more money!

The best thing you can do when writing on a new topic is read and read on that topic. You then need to rewrite what you have read, this time with your own view and opinions. There are of course pros and cons of using Adsense, just as there are many of using any advertising program. It is now your time to make a decision whether to use Adsense or not!

Why Use Google Adsense?

Webmaster News Blog - Why Use Google Adsense?

Now by reading this post, I take into account you already know what Google Adsense is. One question a new user looking at using Google Adsense will ask is, “why would I use Adsense?” I will explain that very question as well as whether it is worth placing Google Adsense on your site!

Now the answer I would always give to someone thinking about is, “yes!” You could always promote some other banner of course, this include an affiliate program and so on. Now you would make some decent money that is as long as your visitors were actually interested in what you were promoting. There is one small problem with using Affiliate programs though, most of them will only pay you on the sale of their product, or even someone signing up under you.

You have to realize now that Google Adsense is in fact nothing like that. Also, if you’re thinking that you can’t make money through Adsense, feast your eyes on the fact that a lot of people actually make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year using Adsense. It also doesn’t stop there. You have the option of showing your visitor to a text ad. Rather than having annoying flashy designed banners on your site designed to intrigue people into buying a product, you can have simple worded text banners that allow the user to read a little to see if they are interested.

Of course you will have to work out your position a little better as the visitor needs to be able to see them, the basic text ads to not annoy the stuffing out of a new visitor. Ever been on a site with tones of ads, popup ads, banner ads, and other annoying things that really make you feel annoyed? Well, to be honest I have too! As soon as I see a site like that I am pretty content in simply clicking off it and continuing on to another page. With Adsense you have better options, you can choose what you want your ads to look like and you can still make good money.

Another great thing about Adsense is the fact that it is all targeted automatically. You don’t have to spend the extra time looking for an affiliate in your niche to target. You simply set up your Adsense account, set the colours and size; and then paste the code where you like and presto! You have some great relating ads to your niche within ten minutes.

It is probably best to stick within your Niche when using Adsense. For example if you had a blog about cars and so on, but suddenly wrote a post about games then your ads wouldn’t be targeted for cars. The visitor may have come along to check out car posts, but will get gaming ads. That would mean you would possibly get a lower CTR on your ads as the visitor wouldn’t be interested in games.

Yet another brilliant thing about Adsense is just how easy it is to change the size of banners. You are able to pick through a lot of designs that have proven to work best for sites. This helps you fit the ads into your site and allows you to place them where you like with ease. It also brings a little bit of extra class to your site, particularly as you maintain the nice clean look.

Probably one of the biggest problems with getting advertising on your site is not being able to find related sites. Using Adsense you will never have a problem like this again. You are able to get ads instantly relating to your niche and completely targeted without a hassle.

Adsense is 100% free to join and they will never charge you anything. There are literally thousands of people ready to advertise on your site, many of them in the same niche and willing to pay higher than there competitor, meaning more money for you. Setting up Adsense is extremely easy, it can take up to ten minutes to place your ads and see them! You simply join Adsense, set up your banner size and all other descriptions. This then leads you to a code which you copy and paste into your sites design.

Many people use Adsense simply to pay their hosting bill monthly, while others have been known to start Adsense and start making good money within their first few months. Adsense is a great program for everyone. Look at an advertiser’s point of view; they can pay to get targeted traffic. A publisher can have targeted ads on his site and earn easy money though clicks. Best of all it looks great to a new visitor and isn’t annoying like affiliate ads can be.

What Is Google Adsense / Adwords

Webmaster News Blog - What Is Google Adsense - Adwords

Remember the old days when advertising was done thought newspapers and notice boards? Times have changed and the concept of advertising has as well! Now we see advertising on television, whereas we used to here it via the radio. We have also seen advertising on sites now, but before we would see it only in magazines and newspapers.

Now, back then when adverts on sites had just come into existence we would see huge ads. Ads that would take up the whole page and so on, your reward would be the money they paid you in return for the advertising space. Their reward would be the traffic and visitors you sent them via the advertising.

There was however a problem, that suddenly became a huge pop in the market. The ads that were presented on sites were not targeted. For instance, you would have a site that would present information about a candy store. But then you would have a huge banner advert on the side telling you to look into buying a new house. In the ad part of a newspaper, this was fine. However when it had noting to do with the site a problem appeared.

Now, you are looking through facts of candy stores, possibly even looking for the closest one near you. Who knows? You may have wanted to buy a new house that same year, but the point was you weren’t looking to at that current moment. In fact, if the banner had of come up with more information about candy then you may well have clicked it. The guys at Google saw this and came up with an idea, that of Google Adsense.

Now rather then having to jump around like a lunatic to get people to put ads on your site, all you would do now is simply generate a quick code and place it where you liked on your site. This would be after you had signed up with Google Adsense of course. They would then place a banner in the exact spot you wanted it to appear, and it would be related to your content.

Google does the targeting part quite easily. They search through your site, find the main keywords and place ads that are on something similar. Now, what is good about this is people are actually interested in clicking on your banner ad! It’s not like they are going to want to know about something else, they see that they are interested and you have yourself a click!

But the people that would once advertise on unrelated sites could now do so, but properly! This would work brilliantly as they would have their banner on a niche the same as their own. The way it worked was great as everyone would win in their situation. The person that ran the site would make money form clicks, the advertiser would get targeted traffic and Google got a fair share.

Google has of course set particular rules to what you can do with their ads. For example you can only have a max of three text and banner ads on your site. From the moment you go over your ads will no longer show up. You also couldn’t click on your own ads, nor have people intentionally do so. This would result in a possible ban and thus you would no longer be able to use Adsense on your site to profit from. The Adsense banner design was of course a lot cleaner then some other companies that would pay you to have their banner on your site. The Adsense banner wouldn’t be huge, but it would require you to think a little more when placing your ads on the site.

Google Adsense is a program different to many others. It allows you to place targeted ads on your site and at the same time profit form them. If someone wanted to get traffic from adverts as an advertiser they would pay Google to do so. If anyone wanted to have Adsense ads showing on their own site, they would then get paid by Google for every click thorough they received.

The whole process was new at the time and has now become one of the most recognizable programs. It is great from every view; the visitor can get extra information and not be annoyed. The advertiser could get targeted traffic that resulted in many sales; and the publisher would have targeted ads on their site without having to search around for people to advertise.

Dissecting and Prospecting the Top 10

Webmaster News Blog - Dissecting and Prospecting the Top 10

Who doesn’t love a good list? The Top 100 songs of the year, the Top 5 Films of the year, the Top 10 HR hitters in Major League Baseball, and on and on. We take it all in like sunbathers in a Jamaican sun, don’t we?

Some lists are not just a subjective popularity poll or a faddish compilation of what’s “hot”, but they are actually reliable indicators of business trends or of an established pattern that decisions can be based on by taking that information into account. We are going to discuss a Top 10 list that fits that description. Let’s review the Top 10 On-line Businesses.

Now while all of these businesses are Internet applications many also refer to these enterprises as “stay at home” businesses also since you can easily do them from the comfort of your own home. Okay, why did I feel the need to present that visual for all of us to imagine? Well now that we are all awake, let’s move on.

It has been reported that hundreds of thousands of people search the World Wide Web for stay at home/Internet business information every month. Some of that is because we all hear rumors and/or experiences of people around us who have taken the steps and are actually doing it. And then there those infamous in your face ads and web pages screaming from the roof tops of how you could be rich by this same time next week. That would get the attention of many people raiding their piggy banks for some lunch money. And it’s hard to blame anyone for perking up when they hear they can get rich.

However with the glut of web pages dedicated to making money on-line and with the misleading information from the dream snatchers a vast majority of people are lost and confused. Therefore we are going to present a series of articles to give you an organized and practical look at the tried and true programs that are available for anyone who has the ambition to pursue an on line vocation or even a career.

The purpose of this article is to first give you the Top 10 list. While I cannot guarantee that every list ever made on this subject will be exactly the same, I can promise you that this is the general consensus across the Internet among the researchers who painstakingly follow the Internet racket. So here are the Top 10 “Stay at Home” / Internet Businesses, in no particular order:

  1. Affiliate Marketing
  2. Internet Blogging
  3. Auction sales or EBay style sales
  4. E Commerce – (similar to #3 yes, but also different)
  5. Arts and Crafts related businesses
  6. Internet Research Services
  7. A Freelance Service
  8. Recruiting Services
  9. Consulting Businesses
  10. Virtual Assistance

There is the list, now go at it. Okay, I guess just the list alone isn’t very helpful is it? And at this point we have only prospected the possibilities of having our own on line business. That is why we are going to bring you a series of articles dissecting each one of these opportunities so you can examine what each opportunity has to offer and what you would need to do to achieve any one of or any combination of them.

Note that none of these propositions are going to make you rich in a heartbeat and most likely will not make you wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. Bottom line is that people looking for the easy way out are not the sort of people that are diligent in their efforts to accomplish things in the first place. And if you are that kind of person than none of these options are for you. That is because it will require persistence and honest work, not sheer enthusiasm and money for nothing thinking.

So now what? Well feel free to research any of these wonderful prospects by doing some of your own homework. But by all means tune back here on BevyHost and follow the series of articles dedicated to each of these on line/stay at home business options.
