Hackers trying to hack National Security info!!!

After the withdrawal of Google from China due to several hacking activities. Now the National Security office in India was also put on target by the Chinese hackers. There have been repeated attacks from hackers who tried to inject Trojans and access information by means of PDF file sent by mails.

The Cyber patrol has tightened their belts are on close watch for the the culprits.

This stuff gets older by the minute.

You mean to tell me that there is nothing that can be done at the server level? I mean doesn't an Internet ultimately travel through a mainframe?

There is no way of catching malware before it even gets into the network? Someone is smart enough to hack into a system but no one can create a fool proof preventative measure?

It would great if something could be created to send the malware back to the source.

If only they could track down and catch these people. Of course, you will need cooperation from every party. If they are really from china, the government has to do something or it is going to give a bad name.

It is ironic how on one hand people insist you can fart in China without the Gov't knowing and threatening death. And then you hear there are these magical hackers out of no where.

There is total censorship there and yet there are hackers that can chase away Google?

BTW in the today's situation where proxy and other similar softwares are out it really becomes difficult to track them to the root. You actually follow the correct path but then you reach elsewhere or nowhere.

Here in India there was a case where the police had caught some computer enggn. for some spamming activities following his IP address and other logs from the ISP untill lately they discovered that he was out of India for last couple of years and just came to India last week.

So what's the use of all these sophisticated instruments.

If they have the intention to commit such act, there are so many ways to hide themselves. It's not easy to catch.

I am going to show my computer ignorance again but I don't understand any of this. Yes I understand how easy it is to hide from ametuers or non professionals. But mircosoft can't find them?

Or Internet providers like broadband companies don't have the resources or man power to attack them?

Think about it. Hwang or Life31, you are certainly more versed in computer tech than I and you know many ways to hide. So how is that people who are experts don't know all the tricks the hackers do?

I think the problem is that the computer security business is a cash cow and they don't want to stop the hacking. They are probably involved in it.

LOL frankly speaking looks like the hackers are putting much more efforts in whatever they do as compared to the Government and securities.

If the securities would have thought from the hackers perspective and put in slightly more efforts things would have been smooth enough.

I remember seeing a movie about how hackers can confuse on the exact location from where they are from. You can even track them to Alaska!

Oh really which movie?? I think lots of Hollywood movie show such advanced technologies and stuff in the movies. Remember Back to the future

No they actually show something like the hacker is hiding behind a lot of proxies and there seems to be something like programming work to confuse their exact location. But I think that's not limited to movie but real life scenario is always possible.

Ye all the things in movie are actually taken from the real life. Only thing is that in movies they exaggerate it a lot more and present it in an attractive way

On the TV programs here they usually have the good guys out maneuver the bad guys.

Again it probably comes down to money on the good side. If you paid someone enough they could probably stay ahead of the hackers.

And the security people are profiting from the threats! So why would they stop it?

Don't forget about those who do it just for pure fun and excitement.

That is the part I don't get. I understand the fun and excitement of a challenge.

Hacking into a major site or mainframe is a real challenge. Sending a virus into the common person's PC is child's play. What fun is in that?

That's like an adult picking on a 3 yr old.

It's shameful and pathetic if hackers think putting malware out there is a challenge.

I think this scenario on malware being present everywhere is similar to the one we discussed before previously about how software companies used this tactic to make people invest in upgrading their antivirus softwares.

I agree with that totally. I don't think it is a random act of "fun". Somebody is getting paid to manipulate people to buy security services.
