Yeah, even politicians now create their own blog for their campaign. Hmmm...what better way than through blogs to get personal with the people.

My take is that politicians have the right to blog what they like, just like us ordinary citizens. Anyway the standard of political discourse are low whether politicians join in the fray or not.

Well, it's the new age whereby blog rules. Years ago, blogs are just something like personal diary but today it can be just about anything and can even serve different purpose and objective.

But I guess most blogs (political ones included) are not worth a read or paying much attention to. Sometimes, I just feel that the internet is just a big trash can

Nah...It's how you look at it. There's always the ugly and also the bright side. It's just that there are unscrupulous people that misuse the power of internet.

The internet offers a politican access to a wide audience base. Getting your message across to as many people as possible is extremely important in politics as in business. The use of the internet also increases your access to potential money via fund raising.

You are right. Obama had demonstrated the power of internet very well and this may be one reason he won against Clinton in the primary contest.

Wasnt it demonstarted in 2004 by that crazy democrat who made the really scary speech along the lines of "we gonna take back the White House yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee", can't remember his name for the live of me. Was it Howard Dean?

We should never have even been close to becoming a candidate and would not have had it not beenfor the power of internet fund raising!

Yes that was Howard Dean making his famous scream. As like all tools, the internet is a double-edged sword in politics and all other matters.
