Default Crazy moment at work

Well today was certainly interesting. Got to 1:20pm I was sitting ont he second floor when there was what is probably the loudest bang I have ever heard in my life, the lights all went out and dust came down fromt he ceiling.

We were all evaculated and later told to go home. We are told the building will be fine for tomorrrow.

Structual safety problems?

Perhaps the world is coming to an end? Just kidding, likely to be a temporary hiccup but ask the building management people to check

well we all where evacuated and the building closed for the day. Today we went back in and where told it was nothing at all! although the receptionist thought one of the structural support beams on the pointless arty exterior appearance had fractured and fallen against the builing. We had a quick look this morning put could not see anything. Another theory was something do to with the air con system. Personally i have no idea but i would like to fidn out.

If you got to scared yourself, watch the National Geographic series "Seconds to Disasters" especially those on buiilding collapses. The sad thing is that 9 out of 10 times, the disaster can also be traced back to cutting corners.

I think I have shown you guys what the building looks like before. I'll post a picture and maybe it will help us figure out what went wrong. I can't track down anyone who was on the third or fourth floors so at the moment I can't work out which level it was on apart fom to say it was a bove level 1.

thast is the building fom the side, all modern features lol

Just thought some of you might want to be updated on what ever happened at the Law school ( or City Campus East) on tuesday just gone. This is an e-mail that was sent around the university, well the law school on friday evening. Let me know what you think

"I can confirm that the structural stability and integrity of the building was never in question and that occupants of the building were never at risk.

The bolts which snapped were at the top of a column in the café area which is there for the purposes of protecting the glass curtain walling facing onto the courtyard area from high wind loads.

The column which is one of 4 plays no part in supporting the building structure. All 4 columns have been checked re-drilled and bolted to ensure that there can be no repeat occurrence of this problem which was minor in nature but which had a dramatic effect.

This column arrangement does not exist anywhere else in the building"
