Hey guys, here’s my initial review on the installation side. Downloaded the file and began installing. The whole process took something like 3 minutes on my Celeron 1.86GHz laptop. So pretty fast here considering the file size is 7.6MB. Once installation finishes. I tried to start it. But (sigh...) it says my google toolbar is not compatible with the FF3 version so I have to redownload the google toolbar
In terms of features, these are some that I’ve noted so far. When you start typing in address in the address bar, the browser will try to autocomplete for you based on your current FF bookmark. Kind of cool but I prefer to turn this one off. The buttons are sure different but this is pretty like cosmetic enhancement Speed. I don’t see any difference (for the moment)…maybe it’s too early to assess. I’ll try test drive it for a day or so then only can make out the difference.

I will stay with my Firefox 2 for the time being. Will wait for you guys to give a verdict whether it is worthwhile to download. Can all the existing settings be retained if we switch to the new version?

Well, after using it for more than 4 hours ever since yesterday and opened over 100 my commonly visited websites, I can say that I still have noticed any speed difference. Feels the same to me... Even the Java loading is practically the same...

Hmm
 It would have been really nice if it was to work faster specially for people like me still using dial up connections.I heard that they have improved on its looks and graphics. So might be cos of that the speed doesent seem impressive???

Yeah, on the web coding side, you will notice that all search bars will appear 3d. For instance, when you arrive at Bevyhost, the top two entry bars for you to key in username and password looks different. It's the way the browser interprete html coding and present it differently.
That the graphic enhancement we are talking about.

Hmmm....for me, I don't see any significant or something "to shout about" major enhancement. It's still pretty much the same old FF to me except for the cosmetic upgrade. I just look forward to the next release for it to be better...just hope so.

However the browser might be and whatever its progress might be but then it seems like they managed to make a world record for the number of downloads.

Is it?? Can't remember the actual pledges made. Just refer back to my post number 15 in this thread made on 06-15-2008, 09:33 AM. That time, it was 1,253,724 - 2 days before the actual download. So in effect it's actually an increase - more than the pledges.

Hmm! Dont exactly remember?? might be. But if the no is 8 times the original fiure then it certainly is of great success.
Lol BTW did you check the no of downloads untill today its 28,790,228 :-0

Yup the figure right now is 29,575,814 which is a whopping number. I wonder this is actually the actual number of representation for the people that is currently using FF.

I think this huge number probably represents people who attempted the download and probably not the actual users. Hwang, do you have the actual numbers for FF's marketshare vs IE?

Yes thats the actuall download figure but then we could probably say that every one who downloaded it must have been used it for a couple of times so cant we say they its grossly the users too??
Might be some of them would not be using it for their day to day activity but then they certainly would be using it for something or other.

It's just a rough and general representation. There are other possibilities like same person download more than once and used it on different workstation or either case, people who downloaded but actually used it.

In related news, according to Clicky.com, Chrome has already grabbed about 2.5 percent of the market, With 1.4 billion Internet users globally, 35 million people could potentially download Chrome.
An interesting question is whether this beats Firefox's effort at Download Day

The 2.5% will soon decrease. Just look at the reviews that came out regarding use of Chrome. A lot of negative ones. In fact some even regretted that they downloaded chrome in the first place.

Thats obvious that no one is going to use it for long. Its just a curosity of people to try out or use things which are new or just launched. But then every one would stick only to the best option out of the lot.
