AVG Antivirus

Previously I was using Norton Antivirus but just a year back I decided to switch over to AVG Antivirus. So far I haven't have any problem using the software (the fact also that my pc never got infected) and think it's far more simpler for the interface compared to Norton and best part is that it is free for use. It won't slow down the system like Norton does. Anybody here share the same sentiment and views?

I have been using AVG for along time now, it is good but it still misses some really bad viruses! which is a major pain.

Also I find it slows my pc down alot which can be annoying

Usually I turn off the real time monitoring and only turn it on during web surfing. I think there's no point in having it on during when we are playing games needing huge system resource. Also I do make it a point to check every single downloaded files in case it has viruses. Anyway, thumbs up for AVG

I used to use AVG earlier but it did skip some latest trojans and other virus even after updating it from time to time. So now i really dont rely on it. Now started using NOD32 and Trojan Hunter symaltinously.

Really? You mean they missed out detecting the trojan horse?

Wow this is something that I should consider. I don't want that happen to mine. But did you make sure that your virus definition is latest and up to date? It really surprises me here to hear that.

Yeah, AVG doesn't seems quite effective now. I use it and they miss many virus in my PC. And I can't update it for months. Anybody have a better recommendation rather than AVG? I need something to replace it.

Geee...I'm really surprised to hear your feedback. I've never had problems like yours happened to me before and I also do not have difficulty updating. Weird...

AVG works wonders along the Microsoft anti-malware software, get that and use it, makes so much difference if something bad is happening on your system

AVG is good. But i'm not use them anymore. I just fine by using Nod32 antivirus. So far, i agree AVG really good if your PC not have any virus like trojan or worms.

Mee too presently stuck with Nod32. Its a good one. Preety satisfied with its working.

But for extra safety i do use Trojan Hunter along with it.

AVG i have left long long back.

I find its best to have 2 or more Anti viruses on now a days, the problem is that some will find ones which others wont, so its better to be safe then sorry

I also thought of that but having 2 to 3 antivirus running at the same time really brings down the performance of the machine. I wouldn't mind if I'm having like the core 2 duo processor but my celeron really can't cope with that.

AVG is good and reliable.
It's relatively lag-free too. The only problem is that sometimes is collides with programs such as MapleStory and Comodo.

I having been using Norton and was think of switching to AVG; most of the feedback on AVG I got were generally positive.

Hmm see that most of the people prefer AVG. Good newz for AVG users that AVG8 is available for free download. And bad news that Free AVG version contains minimum required tools. But then their paid version is full of many more features.

Avg is the best antivirus. It's a opensource and it's free. It's a all- in one protection antivirus software.

AVG antivirus is good to use. few years back I used AVG antivirus, but currently i'm using mcfee antivirus. i got awesome experience with mcfee antivirus.

Havent tried mcfee yet. Is it really that good??

BTW is it free or do you need to purchase the license copy??

McAfee is not free. It's more or less like Norton Antivirus whereby you have to pay for it. Anyway, right now I'm using Avira AntiVir Personal and have since uninstalled AVG. Anyone tried it yet? I think it's also great as well.

Oh lol I dont want to spend on another antivirus now!!! Any free one which works charm???

I have nortion legal licence copy but then it sucks the speed of the net so was using an friends copy of NOD32 but even its gone after i formated my HDD
