I think that writing articles and tutorials on your areas of knowledge are a great way to promote your business. You are able to promote yourself as an expert.
Sometimes it's rather hard. Most of the time the person who actually bought our article which claim a complete ownership of the article so it's basically he's paying for its right of use as well. It can be written by you but once sold, he will put his name and claim its his. Get the point??
Unless you come up with a business website that sell contents rather than individuals dealing basically you are losing the right to the contents once sold. There's no way to claim proprietary for the article unless of course the buyer is willing to quote your name or give credit or something.
It depends with what rights you say an article. There are ways that you can sell your article and the buyer still has to keep your byline on the articles.
So have you ever done that kind of deal? Mine usually is like sold the whole rights of the articles meaning that you cannot claim to be ever associated with it.
I have sold to some clients who use my articles but allow me to have my name and website at the end of the article. And also many article directories allow you to do this.
Hmmm... but could you trust them to purely use the article as it is? Usually what company or which that require those articles? Any specific names and where do they use it? It is a article submission sites like we've discussed?

I also already did that and ask them for that. But most of them will not allow it. Why? Some of them also interested to sell my article and some of them want to use that article to their site and claim that article was made by them. So,its up to the deal with you and buyer.
