Wow...that's a advice here. Everything you need to know about link building is mentioned in detail here. I especially agree to your first point saying link building should be gradual and therefore should look more natural.

Yes,
I was quite impressed with it also. That is why I went searching for it so that I could post it here for all to see. I reread it from time to time and it seems there is always something there that I need reminding of. So keep it handy, maybe save it to your favorites or something and look back at it from time to time. Connie |

Well regarding point number 4 whereby it says,
"The number of years for which you purchased your domain may be considered" does that means it's not always true? It's possible to have one new domain ranked much higher than another older domain right?

Yes,
It says that the amount of years on the internet CAN be considered. I am sure it weighs in the decision, but they are not going to give a site that has poor optimization a better rank than a site that is optimized well. If there are two sites that are very close - maybe then they consider the years involved. I don't believe we have to worry about this point. I don't beleive the time we have been on the net is very important. Connie |

Yeah, I get you. Time factor is not the main consideration but I guess when two sites that has the same optimization level, they will give priority to the old ones. I'll sure remember on that point.

I didn't have any specific information, but I had a hunch that Google might reward the site that develops links gradually rather than the one that gets a whole heap of them in a rush. So it's nice to know that this is actually the case.
Interesting to note that changing anchor links is advisable. It seems to me that in all things related to web promotion a wide ranging, randomized approach is the best. So, best not to do a million directories for months on end. Best to mix up directory, forum, article and press release submissions. Google seems to like that. Also, you're not "putting all your eggs in one basket". |

Usually that also happens if you suddenly add a url as your signature links with accounts having more than few thousand posts. It's also pretty risky doing that because there's a sudden increase in back links.
