Great tips. Content is king but grammar and spellings are also very important. Never undersestimate the power of proof reading and the first bad impression you can give readers with some simple stupid typo mistakes.

For me, stirring up controversy for the sake of controversy is counterproductive and unethical - baiiting others may work for a while but after the flames diie down, all is left is the ashes.

Well it's up to you to decide as long as it doesn't go overboard. Do you think those major newspapers or cable news don't do that? They love to dig and blow up to proportions.

You are right to say that major newspapers and news organisation do sensationalize news to gain ratings, but that doesn't make it right or practical to do so for small outfits like us.

That nice. I always use my local language and really know how to attract. Just make sure to be yourself. If you become and copy what others writer did, we never see a different. Try to make different but really can attract more people to stay at your site.

It is always good to have a unique style something akin to a signature to tell the audience that you are the writer of this piece and not someone else.
