Default Why are Proxy's not allowed with some hosts?????

I have noticed that most of the general hosting companie o not allo proxy to be hosted on their hosting. Why is it so?

Is it only for the reason that they eat up a lot of bandwidth or are there any other legal issues?

I dont think bandwidth should create a issue for the hosting company rather it should be a thing to consider for the hosters. If any one needs to buy extra bandwidth its always gain to the hosting companies isant it?

Many will say no because of the legal issues involved with hosting proxy sites. It is usually used by hacker for their illegal activities so the hosting company would want to avoid legal issues to will crop up later.

Actually, it is less of the legality issue but more of the performance issues. Proxy websites use a lot of CPU resources generally so it will increase the server load. My proxy websites of moderate traffic can usually hog enough resources to bring down an Athlon XP2800+ server. My host had to put me on a VPS though it is still not exactly stable.

Even i had a doupt about it but i think you seem to be correct. Cos proxy do utilize a lot of bandwidth. They just eat up the bandwidth isant it?

And you say that your proxy with moderate traffic needs a VPS. Thats much more terrible.
