Default How do you track your sites visitors?

Do you track your site visiters regularly? What do you use to track the records?

Do you have a PHP,or a java counter on your site?

I havent as yet added a counter to my site so was thinking if i should have done that. I only use AW Stats for tracking the visitors.

What do you recomend?

I once use a java counter provided but it's just purely looks nice. If you prefer a more detailed tracking, why not use gvisit.com which is by Google Maps. That would be more useful.

Oh wow! That was gvisit.com. I had seen that on quite a lot of sites mostly on forums.

I thought was that was something that the created. But does it count the total number of visiters that visited your site. I think it shows only the people online so used by many of the forums.

I am using sitemeter on all of my blogs and I have an upgraded account with them.Their service and stats are pretty much reliable, as they provide almost all the possible parameters to track back you traffic.I am not a very regular checker and check my traffic mostly in the last week of every month.

I use purely AWstats , because it provides me with all the information needed for what I'm doing, adding some sort of PHP or Java counter may well slow the page loading, which isn't good :P

Ya that indeed is one of the posibility or draw back using counters on your page.

PHP i think would work fine i mean it wont trouble you much but Java. That really eats the crap out of me.

Any java on my home page just does not allow my page to load properly.

gvisit only ask for the code to be inserted to your website. It is actually invisible and what it will show is that where the visitors come from and when. The functionality is pretty basic but it works for me at the moment.

Ya i saw it the other day. Its fine but did not impress me much. I am looking for some thing like digit counter which displays the hits on your site itself so that every one could see it.

I just wanted to display the total number of people visited my site only in numbers without any other adds or widgets of other sites.

You could do that in PHP.
Just Google "Simple PHP Counter" and see what results you get. These should be what you want, and it uses around the same method I used for the poll in PHP that I gave you.

Ya i got what you intend to explain. Yes it could be done that way. May be ill just need to make some formatting for the display purpose to make it look good.

Thanks ill try that soon and youll be able to see it on my site too

I use my web hosting control panel option to track visitors and related information. I try to keep up with checking every week to see the current trends in visitors.
