Default Could using content from RSS feeds be considered copyright violation???

Most of the bloggers preffer to have RSS feeds as a source of their content. So is such matter considered as copyrighted or stolen?

Basically there are lots of scripts or softwares which access the RSS feed and convert them into posts on the blog. They do not actually contain the whole matter but does have some with a link to the original matter. So is doing this illegal and could be considered as copyright violation????

Just had a doupt in mind and wanted it to be cleared. Ya even i feel the same thing. After all RSS is for getting the content either by mail or elsewhere.

And it also provides a backlink to th main ite from where the RSS has been fetched so inturn he would be getting some traffic from me without much efforts.

Shoulden't he be happy for that

RSS feed are supposed to be made available unfiltered to a client based on their subscription. However, it we were to convert it to our own blog post and make it to look like our own, this could mean serious issue. However, seems that there is no net regulation disallowing such practice.

I have to agree that you are not in violation if you simply subscribe to an RSS feed. The problem is if someone takes a feed and makes it appear as a regular post on a blog, This becomes a problem then because the reader does not know it is an RSS feed.

Interesting question life31. I guess international law would suggestion it is indeed theft of intellectual property as you are blatantly copying their content. However, since the creator of the article has consented to sharing the content on the internet via RSS, I guess it would be fine. Though it would always be better to ask the authors permission before taking action.

That sounds acceptable and descent. There's nothing wrong in asking permission. If he agrees its well and good and it becomes legal so no worries about any thing but if not then there are many more

Would like to try this out. Hope this works

For me its fine. Its another way to promote our blog and our content. Some poeple prefer to read using RSS reader than read at our blog. For me, its a good idea for promotion.
