Will Google and other web page providers allow you to upload any content? For example would you be able to provide adult pictures and entertainment or discuss politically sensitive topics?


I would hate to think the internet was becoming a censored environment.

As far as its concerned with google, I dont think they would allow that. For simple reason that they havent been supporting porn and political, rascial and other controversial issues even for Adsense or adwords.

Their adsense and adwords TOS says that such sites aren't allowed to publish adsense ads nor advertise in adwards. So mostprobably they would be taking their hands off from such thing as far as i think.

But practically seeing their SE does index and show up all such sites or feeds. May be its cos its the work of SE.

It seems strange that they would not allow such sites when you can actively search for the same such websites using their own search engine!

I don't think they should be allowed to restrict the interests or business ideas of internet uses in such a way!

Ya its indeed strange but then its truth.

Google has never allowed adsense to run over porn or other such sites, moreever adsense isan't allowed on warez too. But then if you try searching them using google search you get million or billion's of results.

Do you think someone should inform Google that they regularly contradict their own policies! Are there any other website or Blog providers that would allow a pornographic content as I have a few ideas floating around my head and I would very much like to try them out.

Actually Google's approach makes good financial sense without seriously curbing freedom of speech. The advertising machine is meant to cater to the general market who are will be turned off by porn or hate speech so they are out.

The way they look at it:


We supply you with a SE so if you want to search for smut then your a morally wrong person

We supply you with adsense which we want to show as pure and good so you cannot use it on bad websites.

They are the king and they dictate the terms. Seems ridiculous but that's the way it goes. However, I have come across blogspot supplying porn and the images are hosted on another site.

What??? Is that true But not to worry, sooner or later the person is gonna get banned

I have seen a blogger's blog having those stuff but the thing was the videos there were I think linked from myspace or something similar. So in that case its hard for the google team to find out untill they come across it or someone reports it.

Oh! here one more thing adds to the list. Googe does not allow porn or any such stuff over its blogging platform too

I would imagine that guy will get court very soon. I once read that if you get up anything on-line that is against the wishes of the website or host you will usually be discovered and banned within three working days.

Yes. If you notice carefully, there's actually a link on the top blogger bar that allows you to report objectionable content. If not reported then the admin will take time to go through one by one until they find it before ban the blog.

As Hwang had mentioned, there is way to "flag" objectionable content. Based on what I know, Google will usually not ban such sites unless it is obviously illegal or pornographic. It has a more potent weapon - make it invisible to searches and the only way to find the blog is directly typing the url.

There indeed is a flag or report option but then very rarely any one would really descide and report it by using the reporting option.

As such I personally rarely report any such things until and unless they are really grevious.
