site is too flashy

I sometimes see website that are too flashy. They almost have too much animation and it makes it hard to enjoy and carefully review the website.

Its fine if the owner like that flashy site. Sometimes, i also like if i can have 1 or 2 site like that. I like it. But you need to make sure your site is not too heavy to support that flashy site.

Actually, not many people like that flashy..

It depends actually. Having website that are too flashy could sometimes distract people from the content. Some would easily get annoyed when seeing those kind of site. Try not to overdo it although myself also do not know the limit to that. I guess, one way to find out is get people opinion to review the site after it is done and get their feedback.

I agree to it that too much of animation does irritate visitors and it irritates me too.

It seems to be ok at ome places like header or may be somewhere in the middle. But the whole site flashy and moving just cannot hold visitors for long. After some time you just get bored seeing the same thing repeating again and again.

Isn't part of the problem just that if you have too much flashy on your site it can be difficult to be standardized enough for everyone to be able to view your site with any browswer (with ease).

Sometimes people also do not install Flash plug in for their browser, so it could be a waste of time as well. I believe stick to being as simple as possible to make the site more attractive.

Ya that holds true too. Flash creates problem for me in my IE but runs smoothly in Mozilla. I think that a problem of IE might be. It takes long to load the flash files or sometimes also they never play too.

Yup. It's not a standard plug in that comes with the browser so it might not be a good idea to put on a lot of time designing only to have the visitor looking at an empty space. Well it also slows down page loading so this is also a disadvantage

Is its really disturb some visitor to keep coming to our site or blog, i think its better not put any flash or heavy video. Its fine if you use youtube video. But if its heavy. Its might be a problem to some people have slow internet connection..
