Need openion about Header!!!!

Do youll folow any specific tips or set of rule when creating a header for your site so that it looks or feels more apealing?

Wanted to know more about this? I want my traffic to feel satisfied and plesent as soon as they se my index page. What should i do for that?

I asked a designer about the same who said that try not using dark colours like black red and other bright colours in your header. Do youll feel the same or any other specific tips.
