How do you customize free template?

Can member tell me and guide step by step to customize template? Can we do html editing or we need special software. I hope it is not too hard because I don't have deep program knowledge. How about online tutorial. Thx

How? first you need to know about html and know how you can edit that. you can use nvu or dreamweaver to do that or do that from cpanel if you master about that.

DreamWeaver would be your best bet, it doesnt take a great understanding of HTML to use as its mainly graphical. You will need to learn some back HTML if you want to customize templates. It might sound boring but it can be fun and you learn alot

Yap. Its boring. Thats why i change and use NVU. But if you familiar with dreamweaver. Just use it. Anyway, you also can use word, notepad or powerpoint to make template or website.

Basically you will need to know some basic HTML coding to get started. However, if you want to avoid all the troubles just get Dreamweaver to help you on it.

I think i better use the easy way like Dreamweaver to edit. Never mind i will save a copy and hope to come up with good one.

Of course too many thing need to learn. It take time. You will never master or expert for anything just in 1 night right? No need to rush. You also can use NVU. I recommend it.

Forgot to mention that it can be seen as a breach of copyright on a template if you edit it (I think I have lol but I have left in all the links given on the template), but sometimes you need to edit it to make it work.

Ya i think you can easily edit it if you have some HTML knowledge or some CSS knowledge.

Only if its PHP thn youll need to brush your brains a bit. But mostly the layout or colours you can eaily change by changing the CSS. Most of the times there usually is a saperate CSS file. So modifying that file could somewhat help you.

If free template or paid template. You can edit it. If you have MRR license from that template or theme, you also can sell it. So far, many people make money just to help others people edit their template. My friends make money just create a new theme for his member.

Thanks for posting this tread. I have been messing with templates for months now and just can't get the stupid things to do what I want. I am a little more than a beginner with html but it never works grrrr
