Default Do you ever get someone to do proofreading?

Proofreading is actually getting the help of others to proofread your articles in order to find mistakes or grammatical error. Often this method is actually very reliable because you may not see your own mistakes and therefore you need someone else to check it for you.

I only get people to proofread posts which actually mean something and have taken me a long time to write (on my site "the day the rain came" is the main one, tho the person who proofread it was a stupid as me and we both missed the same mistakes)

Yeah. Sometimes it may turn out that both also missed out the same mistake. Usually when I get someone to help me proofread, it's better to read it out aloud.

Best thing to do then is to upload it to a seperate area of a site and get more people to read it and comment, then upload it. You will notice now a days that more and more companies etc dont mind people posting about them with broken english or spelling mistakes.

You shouldnt focus 100% on what you type, just how you type it, more people would respect what you have to say if its completely true and friendly. If its cold and perfect more and more people stop reading. Alittle weird in a way

Just hope that it doesn't get copied by others before you managed to publish the articles. Don't be surprised that it can get copied that way.

Default Yeah..

I did evey get someone to do that. But I have to pay a lot. And I don't think it's improve the quality of my articles. I prefer to hired an editor instead.

Wow, why do you need to pay someone to help you on that. You can just get help from friends or family members to help you read the article aloud so that you can hear it and detect mistakes along the way. That's the purpose of proofreading.

You can always copy and paste your articles in Microsoft Word and do the spelling/grammar check. It not only looks for misspelled words but it will tell you whether you have started the sentence correctly, it will tell you if the way you have presented the words in your paragraph are grammitically correct and more. This is a great tool and also, I agree, you do not have to pay others to do this for you when you have friends and family that may be able to listen to what you have written and give you some feedback.

Well... Microsoft is great but it's not fool proof. That's why we need proofreading in the first place. For instance like here I would write:

Quote:
Playing the factions horde is challenging more fun and compared to playing the alliance.
bad English and you just jumble up the words and it makes up a sentence with no meaning. But there won't be any error show up in MS office. But if you read it out aloud, people will tell it's utterly wrong

Point well taken, I hadn't thought about that in the extreme case. I stand corrected and thank you very much for the input. This is where your friends and family can come into play. Read it to them also. Between microsoft and real friends all of us should be able to come pretty close to getting it right.

Yeah, proof reading actually helps a lot to spot and detect mistakes. Even if you read silently some mistakes may have missed out as well. Only when it's read out aloud then the mistakes will be highlighted and get noticed.

Default Family?

I don't think my friends and family can do it better. Once I tried Microsoft Word, but I guess I confuse to do it all by myself. And I'm afraid to change the content if it's just based on the software advice.
