Sale of Email Database

It has always been a trend for certain unscrupulous people to collect and harvest data from servers and then resell the list to other people. The list of the email addresses were obtained without the knowledge of the owner. It is actually a very irresponsible act and I'm sure this kind of activity is illegal in some ways. No wonder, we've been getting so many junk mails.

Ya even i have noticed people doing that. And out to my surprise quiet a lot of people buy them too.

Eks that seems to be disgusting. These people who buy them then use those mails to spam with their contents and affiliate links.

Apart from the legal issues, I think it is also unethical to make a profit from this. So many people are actually doing it nowadays and this trend can only be supported if there is a buyer. If only there is an international law prohibiting the sale of email database.

Selling email databases is illegal if the privacy policy of the website stated that they will not reveal the information to third parties. I personally feel that selling the databases will only lead to more spam. I don't like spam so I am not for the idea of buying them.

Yes! Yes! you are right.

Just forgot about the Privacy Policy what i read on every site before signing up with them.

Hell! How could they sell it this way????

Request to all "Please beaware of this before signing up to any sites".
Preferable keep two or three emails so that you can catagorise the sites you sign up with effectively.

I beleive it is legal and spamy when an email is sent to 1 million people.

I will never do that because i know many people will hate you and said stupid word to you when you spam a lots of people. I can said, avoid it to buy or sell that email database. Its uselss.

I don't understand why there are still people buying in other forums. They know that it is illegal and still they are willing to pay money for it. Even if they send out the spam mail people would also not bother reading about it and then it's just only a waste of time.

Because they want to promote their product or website at many people. Its easy way to do that and seems like many people like to do that because its easy and the price is cheap. Thats why they do that. But i believe one day they will know, that method is useless!

I always on the look out to avoid my email address from being harvested. I have 3 different email accounts and I usually use one of them which is less important to submit as registration and newsletter from other sites. Another one I use only for friends and the last one for important bank information and paypal payment.

Yes. Avoid it. I will never did this method just only to earn fast. Looks good management for your business. Its good. I tell you. I have more than 10 account with different provider. Not only with Gmail and Yahoo. I also have others account..

Reselling email lists happens all too often. I would never buy such lists from anyone. I think it is why it is so important for business websites to have their privacy policy on their website so that you know how they can and cannot use information you provide on the website.

I think those people who collected email addresses should be dealt with legal issues. This is because they are considered intruding into people's privacy. I believe the US's law are more specific and can apply to it.

Sadly, I don't think the selling of databases are dealt with. However, the spammer are. Spammers can earn millions from spamming everyone, which is why they are willing to break the law.

So does it mean there is nothing that we can do? This is something getting out of hand. Do you notice it? Certain people actually offers thousands of email address for sale only for a few hundred dollars. This can be seen in other forums.

You can try report it to the authorities, however it is unlikely they are to do anything at the moment as it is online and in murky water. If the user uses a payment method, report their payment method account (i.e. Paypal) and that's about it.

Well, seems like it's dead end for now. Sale of email database will continue. I recently noted during my visit on other forums that there are people selling and coincidentally there are also a lot of people buying. As long as there's a demand, there will always be supply.

Yap. Its always continue like hyip. I don't think hyip will die. So,its same happen to email database. Its because some people run hyip to get that email database and sold to others people will cheap price. if 1 database can get 10 dollar. How about if he sold to 10 people everyday? One day he will get 100 dollar. How if he did that for 30 day? He will get 3000 dollar per month! Hoho..its really easy income..
