Protect our blog contents

I think it is kind of frustrating to see the current trend whereby some users just copy contents from other blogs to put up as their own. Sometimes these users will offer backlinks to your blog as a compensation, but I feel this is not important. We should have the right to protect our blog content.

Yes. You have your word. but its hard because your blog is free blog and everyone can use any information from others site or blog. You not have company and license for your blog. So, its hard for you do anything if someone copy your content..

I have noticed too that content is often copied from blog to blog. And this should not be so. I really do not like to see people take content from others, especially if they try to pass it off completely as their own.

Yap. Even my blog content already copy 100% at others blog. nothing i can do because only the admin of that site can change it. I already email and message that person. If he not doing anything, i will spam his site!

Hey man. That's not really nice to spam other people's site. There must be a more professional approach to solve this problem and spamming is definitely not one of them.

Copying and stealing is becoming a big part of the unmoderated internet. Imagine if we didn't have police in the world. We would be stealing and copying everything we see. Just remember, copying (imitating) is the sincerest form of flattery.

Yup, I agree with that. Although it does not involve violence or use of force, it is still considered stealing to certain extent. Similar like pirated softwares and movie whereby it's a violation of intellectual content.

EHm, 3 years ago. I always did that. But i learn from my mistake and never did that. Its a bad habit. BUt if i want to copy, i always give some credit to author or blog owner. Another one, i never copy 100%. Maybe i only copy or quote some good info. Its more better than we copy 100% right?

The worst thing which can happen is someone stealing from your blog, then having people spam your comments saying that you "Stole" original content, this has happend to me before I was quite upset (well drunk) by this, but I pointed out a few problems with the person who stole my posts.

Heres how the idiot was caught out:

I wrote a story about one of my dreams where my full name was used 6 times and references to my home town were made alot aswell, giving the full name of my town only once, when I recieved about 100 comments screaming "stealing is wrong" I decided to post on this guys blog (and I even went to the lengths of taking screen shots of his "post"):

"If this is your original work, why do you use my name over and over, my town of birth, my home town and my friends name over and over. Unless you have managed to dream this all up and just get lucky of course. I wouldnt mind if you had just put some thanks to me or even mentioned my site when you stole my work.

Im not going to threaten you with legal action or anything stupid, I would just like you to stop your friends from spamming my site (thanks for the free hits by the way) with comments saying I stole your content. Concidering you posted this last friday and the original was posted on my site 5 months ago I think your friends need to get a life"

To this day I still get hate mail and comments from them - not saying the site, dont want to give them more free links

Gee...That was bad. Sometimes seems like there's nothing we can do about this. That's what I hate the most. I mean that guy really made a 100% copy including using your name?? Wow. This is really something.

What a disgusting experience there with that. I think today blogging is only limited to that. I mean copying contents from others blogs and sites and running your blog

Think this is only cos of the money they want to make from ads and blogging nothing else. If there wasent any benifit no one would be intrested in blogging

I guess original content just have to be viligant and constantly check that nobody is stealling their content. And when stolen, complaint loudly and ask for compensation.

If you find anyone doing it, its still a good idea to report them to their host. They might take ages to sort it out but if you basically say the following words:

1. illegal copy
2. breaking copyright laws
3. legal team
4. liability to your company

they normally get off there butts and do something about it

Well, there's nothing much we can do actually except to make complaints. Even then google also mentioned before that they are alright with duplicate web contents so I don't think that will help much to deter the act in the first place.

Well if you don't do anything - silence is consent. At least if you complaint and nothing works, you still have a record of the complaint that can be used in future legal proceedings.

Whatever the outcome maybe, do not keep quiet and let these thieves climb over your head.

But many people always keep silence and not really care about that. As long as they not get robbed or losing their money, some of them just fine with that. So far, sometimes i also feel like that.

That is precisely the point - silence implies consent. And first consent implies 2nd consent and by the time you know it, all your orginal contents are stolen.

You could only really complain if your content is earning you money, remember there are some bots out there which will just lift information off of your site, put it on theirs with a link to your site and a back link to theres. If you are like me and blog for free then be thankful that someone has liked your work so much they have copied it (only if its not a bot lol)
