Default Major ISPs to block child porn

According to the New York State AG, 3 major ISPs have agreed to block customer access to newsgroups and websites that offer child porn.

The 3 are Verizon, Sprint and Time Warner Cable.

Geee...why only 3? They are not supposed to pledge. In fact, we should make it madoratory for all ISPs to monitor and ban whichever site offering that thing. I hope more concrete measures are in place to check the trend. Punish not only those who make the thing but also those who visited it.

I think there are serious First Amenmdments issues involved if content (no matter how vile) are to be regulated on the internet.

If every major ISP cooperate not to do the same that would help a lot to bring down the organization and counter the problems. In fact the reason why the problem is still persistent until today is partly due to that.

I just hope plans will be put into action.

Its high time someone did that. Child trafficking is an all time high these days due to the easy availability on the net. One of my journalist friends had recently done a research of child porn sites while writing an article on paedophiles. To her horror she discovered that girls as young as 5-6 were being projected on these sites. These 3 ISPs need to be applauded for taking such a firm stand and I sincerely hope that other ISPs will follow suit.

In other words, if all ISPs play their part and pledge to block child porn that would definitely play a major role to overcome the problem. Without internet reach, the organization would be severed and it's about time ISPs take this major step.
