Fleeced by Aussie Seller on eBay

An Australian (Queensland) eBay seller has sold over A$1 million of stuff in just the last 3 months, making him the 7th largest customer in Australia. He has reportedly ran away to China leaving thousands of buyers high and dry,

Paypal customers are lucky as eBay owns Paypal. For the rest, there is little hope for a refund or ever seeing the goods ordered.

eBay had been notified weeks ago of complaints about the business but did not move to disable its user account.

The problem is that ebay cant disable the account straight away without giving the seller grace time as it can take a month sometimes for something to reach you :/ So in the month, BOOM 1000's scammed and run like hell

My problem with eBay is that it has not excercised enough responsibilty to protect buyers, sellers and copyright owners. I understand that they are under alot of constraints, but once you profit out of these transactions, you assume a legal duty.

Is he the guy who was supposed to be selling his whole life on ebay ? He was in the news a lot for selling away everything that he owned in Australia because he wanted to move away.
