Default Cyber Laws Lacking in Japan

A Japanese student who spread the Harada virus by embedding in an image from an anime film which he illegally copied and distributed over the internet, was convicted of a copyright infringement charges.

This case has highlighted a lack of laws in Japan against malicious programs in cyberspace.

But he was convicted. Most script kiddies or real virus programmers are never caught and people who upload videos etc illegally are rarely caught, this was a good catch lol

He was convicted under another law - copyright infringement and not spreading virus. The result (his conviction) is right but the reasoning wrong.

One thing we should do is never glorify these hackers. The more you praise them, the more they feel that their work is appreciated. By the look of it, that's how the way they think it is.
Some media are known to put headings such as "teens found a way to hack into top security system" and somehow certain individuals are tempted to follow the act.

Hwang is right. They should be treated like criminals and not heroes. The days of wild wild west is over for good.

A reason I think why so many people support these people, is because these people are usually teens. Teens don't usually have a lot of money, so being able to get things for free, despite breaking copyright laws, appeals to them immensely.

I agree with hwang. These hackers like being praised. They like the attention and are glad someone noticed how much control they can have over the Internet. These people are why the Internet is so unsafe.
