The tit for tat for negative feedback is very natural and perhaps a true reflection on a transaction that had gone soured.

If they have recieved the item via recorded mail then you have the chance to get the banned from paypal for fraud, if they do it even once and claim that you havent sent it to them when you have a piece of paper saying they have then not only will paypal return your money, thats a strike against them on eBay and Paypal. The reason they give the money to the customer and not keep it for the business is simple, business has insurance and if the business knows the customer is lieing then they will push to get their money back

Ireally don't think it works that way. Paypal just are not concerned in the slightest by what happens to the individual user. It alway makes me feel better when I see other sellers complaining openly on e-bay about the problems paypal has caused them.
If you could trade on-line without using Paypal I would! |

That is probably too extreme a view to take; Paypal had to protect buyers in order to survive in the market. Buyers will not use paypal without my assurance of getting back their money if they have bought a lemon.

There's no way that business can run without going through paypal. Either use other payment processor or setup own merchant account and by the looks of it, first option is much more like it.

Yes but once you get into the minefield of other payment methods the hole thing just becoems a nightmare. E-bay hate you to use Western Union or moneygrams becuase neither party is protected. You get some people who send money through the post. Again , no protection and i'm not even sure a cheque will protect you all that well.

Ok. Maybe I forgot to mention Xoom here. I once conducted a trade and I specifically told the guy to pay in Xoom and he agreed. I think you can use that as well because basically there's no chargeback. Just get the person to send you the tracking ID once done. Check out Xoom

Have you ever heard of something called epassporte. Its menat to be like paypal but they issue you with a credit card. The only downside appears to be that absolutely nowhere accepts the card and therefore it is next to impossiblt to get your money back!

We all have to live with Paypal for quite some time to come until another payment processor with suitable pedigree come along that has wide market acceptance.

Which ever way that you decide, in the end you want to money that can be withdrawn and sent to your own local bank account. Xoom does that but I'm not sure about epassporte. And yeah, I heard they will give you a card for withdrawal.

Hwang is right. We will continue to grumble about Paypal's fees while still paying for it because it is reliable and we can get our hands on our own money easily.
