Is it just me or is paypal a very biased system, especially if you are trading on on-line auction sites such as e-bay.
I recently stopped trading on e-bay after numerous customers in Europe demanded refunds for purchased items on the grounds that they felt they had paid too much money for the product. After I explained to these customers that that was what happens in an auction, they then claimed they had not received the items. I entering the shipping codes onto Paypal thinking that would be the end of the problem, however I didnt realise that if after a few weeks the customer came back and cliamed they still hadnt recieved the item, paypal would automatically take the money outof your account. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything that can be done to stop it? Help |

But what about the seller? who protects them? I suppose the honest truth is that if everyone using internet auction and shopping facilities were honest trust worthy people there would be no problems at all.
Nevertheless I do understand your point of view. Hopefully someone, somewhere will be able to create a system that protects both the buyer and the seller. |

Sometimes it's really hard to come up with a system which is absolutely perfect. Paypal has to protect both sides' interest but I would say most of the time buyers tend to better advantage and protection.
I think I've read before that as a seller you can do a lot of things to protect your interest such as creating a invoice and keep track of your shipping codes in order to have supporting documents for any dispute later.

I understand that it is difficult to design new software to better protect both parties involved in on-line money transfers. However I recently discovered that Paypal has a worse customer satisfaction level than the Royal Mail! That really is saying a lot.

Hwang is absolutely spot on the point that buyers generally need more protection than sellers. I guess the trick is to strike a balance as there are unscrupulous buyers and sellers trying to take advantage of these protections.

So far, its just fine with me. I'm fine with paypal. Maybe its just like you said. But most people today know about that and learn how to use paypal in wise way.

I'm not sure I would use the description "wise way" to describe cheating people out of money. I know Paypal offers better protection than a cheque, money transfer or worst of all cash in an envelop.
Paypal is at the moment the best of a bad lot. Paypal needs improving rapidly. |

Well if there was actually a human being to talk to at paypal it might resolve many of the problems experienced by uses. Instead you have to wait up to five days for a response from them. It isn't good enough!
