Default checks

Have you ever accepted a check if you sold something on Ebay? I have not done this as I am always afraid that the check will not clear and at my bank I pay a fee if a check that I cash bounces.

No i dont trade over ebay. But just based on imagination i ould say that you should use some terms like "*incase of cheques shipping would be done after cheque gets cleared."

So no one would rather preffer sending cheques.

I remember buying earphones over ebay. I had sent the dealer Money order and then he shipped me the earphones.

May be something like this would be good and secure too.

Getting a check would only help if you are receiving in USD and have a US bank account to support that. If you are planning to cash out the check at your local bank, there will be a lot of restrictions + high cash out fees. So it's best if you opt for another payment method.

Yap. The fees really make me crazy. Sometimes its deduct 10 dollar if i get paid 50 dollar from US. The transaction of fees really high and sometimes i need to wait until 100 dollar if i want to cash out..

Yes it is true that sometimes people who use Ebay and such are able to go ahead and accept checks if the buyer is willing to wait to have their item sent until their check clears.

I think it's best if we only accept checks if the payment amount is large. It's not worth getting checks for purchase less than 100 bucks because eventually the deduction cost for cashing out the amount would have taken at least 10 -20%. I would prefer other options than checks for small payment.

Ya receiving cheque is indeed is a problem lif for having the transaction charges deducted. I had deposited one last month and that got cleared too. But i forgot to note the opening bank balance that time to find out the exact amount.
From that i would have come to know about the charges but now i think ill have to wait for the statement from where ill get the details properly.

But grosly i think its around $10. So better asking a payout when you are $100+ with cheques.

There's also some risk here associated with checks. Do not and never accept checks from strangers or non established organization. There could be a risk ending as bounced check meaning that account is empty/no money or the check is not valid. Only accept check from trusted organization or company.

Ya thats 100% true. People might be doing that too. The best thing he can do incase if he accepts any cheques is wait till the cheques get cleared.

Once they are cleared then ther's no harm in shipping at all. But sometimes for big amounts it would be a bit wise to accept cheque or go for bank transfer rather then depending on online payment processors duto the high risks of scams associated.

If you still intend to go further on the business, then only consider shipping after checks are cleared. There are cases of scam whereby you could end up unable to cash it after the products are being delivered.

I am not charged to cash my check at my bank or anything the only worry is if the check would not clear I have to pay a fee to my bank. This is why I personally prefer not to take checks.
