There are many extensions available although the most popular is usually .com. I know you can use hyphens and so forth in a domain name I am not sure about some of the other characters. I also know you can use numbers.

Another thing which I want to add is the domain name's length must range between 3 and 63 characters (excluding the extension) and you can't use symbols (such as ' + . , | ! " £ $)

Oh you mean Underscores _ & Slashes / are allowed to be used in a domain????

Well never knew about that? Rather never saw any thing other than a hyphen i mean the -.
Did any one come across any domains with any _ or /. I think the most probably are not allowed.

Yeah, definitely underscores _ and slashes / are not allowed. Even I didn't see or notice that in the first place.

You can you dashes (-) in a domain name, aswell as numbers and letters. You may not use underscores, slashes or dots (full stops).

All extensions that are available are allowed so long as you meet the criteria (for example, only government agencies can use .gov, etc.).

Saying this, slashes, dots and underscores are usable in URLs, just not domains.

Hi,

You are allowed to use hyphens (-). Dots (.) are allowed for second level domains.

As far as extensions go, you can have numerous choices. The most commonly used are lsted at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If you want a specific country's extension. for instance .my or .au, then you will have to contact that particular region's local domain registrar. You also would have to furnish a few documents for the registrar to be able to register the country extension for you.
