Default Weird domain

There are many sites that have a double or even triple domain names, but they'll bring you to the same page. Did you ever have the same experience? Is it just another way for them to get more profit or traffic?

Most .co.uk's etc normally forward you to a .com if they own both domains (Im tempted to buy my .co.uk but I bet someone beats me to it lol)

It doesnt really increase profit or anything its just so if people type the wrong .*what ever* it goes to the correct one to make sure that no one else can sap off of their popularity/numbers.

EDIT: Some can be manipulated to showing a single pixle frame to allow for its own Page Ranking so a site could have two sets of Page Rank (not 100% sure on that but I have checked one or two which use a 1pxl frame and it had a higher PR then the .com as its linked to the domain)

Default Wasting time

If they bring us to their site just because we type the wrong address than the one we want to type, it's really wasting my time. Usually this kind of site have a lot of pop-ups, and they mess my computer

Put it this way if you have a site called:

llamalordlovesllamaswhollamaabout.com

people will obviously misspell it no matter what, the most common misspelling is:

lamalordlovelamaswholamaabout.com

so I could buy both sites or the .co.uk's aswell so there is very little chance of people missing my site, it makes sense in the long run

Wow, why do you need so long for? I don't think it's SEO friendly that way cause not sure whether the bots will be able to differentiate as separate words.

The url was a example lol, companies buy more then 1 url all the time, just to account for common mistakes in spelling and domain placement

It's really just to make sure people are brought to your page. For example, someone might know your website name was "websitename" but not whether it was a .com or .com.au or .net, etc. usually people just assume it's .com, but some do not, so it's better to buy all related domains you can think of to eliminate those lost visitors.

I think sometimes people do this because after buying their name they don't like it so they have a redirect. For example. Mine is Grocerypricebooks. Now I wished I had bought grocerypriceBOOK. I thought of changing it and just having a redirect but never did.
