.us and WHOIS Privacy???

Was just wondering if .us did not have domain privacy or WHOIS gaurd.

Is it that you cant register privacy for .us or is it allowed?? That just came to my mind when I was looking out for a domain for a friend of mine. And he also wanted WHOIS gaurd or privacy for it.

So when I checked .coms .nets all were gone. only thing was .info .biz and .us.

So i thought that .us as a better option but then I discovered that the registrar did not provide WHOIS for .us domain?? So was a bit confused.

Is it the case. Or does the WHOIS for .us cost a lot or much more?? Cos the registrar I checked out was giving free WHOIS for all the other domains.

Oh! Finally I made it to the answer so though of keeping this post updated.

None of the .us regisered are allowed to have a WHOIS gaurd or domain privacy.

So finally ow we can discuss about why is it not allowed to have privacy for .us whereas all others tld's can have privacy?

On estdomains.com it is possible to close whois.
