Subdomain or yoursite.com/folder ??? What do you do usually???

Is creating subdomains for of existing domain a good idea.

Actually i am planning to run a blog with the same hosting account what i have. In that case what should be better or sounds better:

blog.yoursite.com or yoursite.com/blog

In the first case ill need to make a subdomain wher a in second i just need to paste the folder in the root directory.

What would be your choice?
