Local or International?

When dealing with a local business, would you but a local domain (e.g. .co.nz) or an international domain (e.g. .com)? I'm just curious on your input. Local would probably have more appeal, as that is its function. However, international brings your website to the international stage.

I'm prefer with international because many peopel will think i'm serious with business. I prefer with .com or .net. Yap, we can get many visitor from international by doing that. But actually, its depend on your promotion too.

Yes. What I have found here in New Zealand is that local domains are shown above all in Google search results. I.e. Any .co.nz Domain will be shown above all the rest for that subject. I have also found that it is more professional if you business is just local to have a local domain. There are some large NZ companies that just own the local domain.
