For how many years maximum can you register a domain?
I mean what is the max number of years for which you can register a domain at a time. I see that some hosting resellers provide a offer saying that domain for life free when you buy their hosting.
What does this mean? What would be the lifetime of that domain then??

I've read before on this. This is the info from ICANN. Should answer your question.
Quote:
How long does a registration last? Can it be renewed? Each registrar has the flexibility to offer initial and renewal registrations in one-year increments, provided that the maximum remaining unexpired term shall not exceed ten years.
Re: For how many years maximum can you register a domain?
Well it depends. Corporate website will definitely automatically take the maximum number of years. But then, if you have the cash to spend and willing to commit long term, then why not go for Max
Re: For how many years maximum can you register a domain?
Yes the corporate sites would certainly take it cos they dont want to renew that again and again.
Actually the registrars should have developed som schemes or promos for domains registered for long term. Something like 50% of the actual rate for 5 or 10 years name registered. In that case we would have a lots of people doing that.
