Default Is it true that links from older Domain is better?

Just today when I was chatting with my internet buddy, he raised up the issue saying that if you want to exchange links, then you should consider exchanging with domain which is older in age because it carries more weight. Is there any truth to his statement? Would like to hear from other members here.

Should be true cos known some people discussing and tlking about Link Weight across forums. So might be its links from either PR domains, older domains or something like .edu ect.

But for the price of the domain i can say the older the domain the more the price. So this too has to be true as per me.

I just wonder why they consider domain with older age and not because of PR. I mean a site which may be new but could have higher PR compared to another older site. It is always true to certain extent?
