If you have a link to your website in a signature this would count as a one way link wouldn't it? I am thinking this because it is not a link exchange.
Yes, the link goes one way, so it's one way linking. Not that it will improve your Search Engine Rank THAT MUCH since (most) forum aren't SEO themselves, so page[s] are hard to get to (for bots), and some aren't accessible at all (by bots)...
Geee...I'm surprised to hear you say that "it will not improve SEO that much". Anyway, 1 single one way link will not make any difference. But a lot of one way links will definitely make an impact.

I wish I could remember how this came about but what happened was one day I was checking all my links and seeing who was linking back and seeing what the search engines knew about me and I came across - in google - somehow I did a search in the google search and every single post to the forum that I had ever posted was indexed in google. Whether I was helping, or asking a question or telling a joke, didn't matter what is was - every comment was indexed. I thought that was quite cool in one way and not cool in another. Sometimes what I was talking about had nothing to do with my site, but I suppose it was cool to be indexed for it anyway.
Yeah. Forum posting signature links can actually make a lot of impact especially if the page has been indexed by Google and then have high PR. Just imagine if we were to have something like 1000+ posts, that would certainly be something...
