Do you think link building has become tougher?

Well these are my thoughts on link building these days which suggest it's getting tougher.

People are generally avoiding link exchanges because it doesn't bring much benefit overall

There are tougher competitions and since niches are so packed, people are little reserved to provide outbound link for fear of losing among the pack

What do you guys think?

Its certainly a very tough job today. And since Google has descided to hold the neck of people or sites having maximum links from directories and link exchange or sale now things are becoming much more tuff.

The best thing now is to provide great content so that automatically every one links to you. And the second option is blogging and forums but in that case too you cant guess the fate of such links in future.

I think they also assign certain fixed ratio whereby you can only have certain amount of backlinks coming from forum, directory, blog commenting. Or maybe once the limit threshold has been crossed, those further links won't count anymore. Whichever way, it's getting tougher and tougher.

Thats has to be true not. No other better way they would have to avoid all the malpractices of comment spamming and spamming on public boards or buying signature links which is happening these days.

If they take away links coming from forums, blog commenting and such, I just wonder how one is actually going to find a pure natural link.
That is only possible once the site really establishes itself

There was actually a good method of exchanging links with sites of similar niche earlier. But since this PR has come and Google penalizing sites with links page the system is almost become obsolete.

That's why I feel that the only way still goes back to links placed on article directories. That's the only good and reliable option left as it is not deemed controversial.

Hmm! Ye you can say that article is one of the reliable source until now! But gettings links from these is not that easy these days. Most of the article directories have started thoroughly scrutinizing and moderating the articles submitted there. And again there are lots of rules to be followed there So you cant expect some easy stuff from there

May be thats why the links count

Yeah, too many discrepancies and manipulation involved. Nowadays you can easily find low quality rewritten articles copied from other sources, a good reason why articles don't get approved easily anymore.
