Sistrix, a German company, took it upon themeselves to analyze web page elements of top ranked pages in Google to find out which specific elements lead to high Google rankings. They analysed the following factors:

webpage title, webpage body, headline tags, bold and strong tags, image file names, image alt text, domain name, path, parameters, file size, in-bound links and PageRank.
