Default Recommended Keyword Density

Flooding your text with keywords would not make sense to your readers and therfore they will abandon the site. Recommended keyword density is 4% meaning that for every 100 words of text on your page, you keyword should be mentioned 4 times.

This will keep the spiders, crawlers and human visitors happy!

Dude... I think this topic has been discussed [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Anyway, SEO experts vary in their views as to what is the best keyword stuffing density. A more direct way to check your density can be done using this tool [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Talking Re: Recommended Keyword Density

I recently wrote the content for a French Language learning site. The guys gave me about 10 keywords and they wanted me to use all of them for every page whose content I created on their site. It was just crazy, I had to put my foot down and tell them that I'd use only what was relevant per page, not stuff words just so that they could get a high page ranking. SEO should be only used by people who understand it, otherwise its like giving a sword to the monkey.

I dont think there there would be any problem if any number of keywords are used but preferably they are properly used and related to the topic. You can always write a good article of around 1000 words with some related keyword related to your sites niche and the articles topic.

The problem here was they were looking for only 300 words per page. If I had to put in ten keywords and repeatedly in the content ,then the writing would have looked tacky and unprofessional. I did read later on that if you put in too many words it confuses the crawlers and the result is that you mess up your page rankings.

Wow...but be careful. If it's too many and kept on repeating the same keywords, the SE bots will think it's some kind of spam and ignore it.

Another point which I should add on is to distribute the keywords accordingly and best is, use combination of keywords to complement each other.

I follow a basic rule when I write articles between 250-500 words The first keyword goes in the introduction para, while another goes in the middle and the last one in the conclusion. The readers don't notice it, it looks relevant and contextual and yeah I pick up the complimentary ones as I use them to build up a flow. If the client insists on more I just add one more shorter keyword in another para but thats about it.

Any more tips that you guys can add to this ?

Read the article aloud and if it sounds OK, "sneak" in one or 2 more keywords or phrases. Re-read again to see if it still sounds natural. Repeat the process and stop when things start to sound ridiculous.

lol..thats a funny tip and its always good to read the articles aloud to check for mistakes. However I'd rather stick to my stand and not go overboard with keywords. Google became popular because of its relevant search, now the SEO gurus have made it look like a zoo, half the top search results are not contextual.

I think what he means is proofreading. Hmmm...maybe to recap back what we said..an article designed for SEO should be:
1) rich in keywords around 4% but not overuse it
2) fair distribution of keywords in each paragraph
3) article length should not be too long
4) the article must be interesting to read
