Default Long Tail Versus Short Tail Keywords

I stumbleupon this one just today and I'm wondering whether there is such a thing as long tail keywords and short tail keywords. This is the first time that I've heard of it and I was kind of surprised. Read more about it [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

From what I can gather (2 mins of scan reading) its basically saying "good and bad" keywords.

It gave a example of a really bad website based on a cartoon.... and that the name of the cartoon came up more then the name of the Charactors in it

For me, it's only a single keyword or a keywords phrase. A long tailed or small tailed or medium tailed keyword makes no difference.

A phrase can be 2 words or more. You need to do lot of research to come up with winning keyword/keyphrase. Example, if I can form an online company/site called 'asdfg' and if it becomes very popular, then this single word can be as popular as say Pepsi / Coke / Nike / Google / etc. So, the importance is to find good marketable keyword/s with a scope to come up in SEs. If you are able to tap a good market with less competition then you can strike gold.

Yeah, I think you are right. Length doesn't matter that much except what is more important is whether the keyword itself is popular enough to bring in traffic. Thanks for the explanation.
