How to ensure your sites get returning visitors

Well this one just came right through. I just wonder how do you ensure that your visitors will keep coming back for more.

- having new and fresh contents
- create contests to attract attention
- give away free goodies (ebooks, softwares...)

Anymore you guys can add? Trying to crack my head here....

I don’t know how to make people to return. Don't have new method but as a surfer, I know if I see contest and have free software, I will come back again

I would say, member access. It is important to have an interesting updated content, but you can create some members area in your website, so the visitor would come back. Whether its mailing list, forum, or just a simple "comments and suggestion" page. They will come back to check the reply.

Hey that's a good idea which I miss out. Yeah, a members area could also help including having forums for chat to take place.

I see some website have video so I think can make visitor like to return. Just words can be borings and video help to make subject interesting.

Having membership section, fresh content, freebies, news, forum, and giving solutions to problems, even asking questions (like yahoo answers site) and requesting answers, linking from social sites, etc. There are many ways, but the best to constantly updating great and relevant articles.

A complain and suggestion box put on website and blog can make people understanding you care how they feel. I see many website conduct pool so they improve their site according to visitor suggestion. Visitor will come back more because they like it.

Yap. I believe with article marketing. Thats really good and i have many good time by doing that. Many people keep do that to get good amount of traffic and returing visitor. I already did that and its works!

Again I think content is king and fresh content and regular updates will definitely result in re-visits. To me, contests, giveaways and what you have are bells and frills that are not sustainable in the long run.

Of course we always miss something. I believe many people cannot caught all thing they want today. So far, membership not really a good one for me. I prefer use blog method and contest method.
