Using blogs to promote affiliate program instead of website

I'm just wondering, does anybody here who uses blog and manage to do well to promote your affiliate program? What's your success rate of using blog instead of website?

Blogs are generally more excepted then websites now, not because of any real differences in the layouts (joomla can be used as a blog creator or site creator or both for the same site!). As more and more people are becoming more webwise and because of Web 2.0 blogs basically show you are human aswell and it can show that you update it more (I know sites generally update and time stamp but people think differently about blogs).

Sites should only be used to sell things now, not to promote as promoting on a site can make it look like a scam for some reason (dont ask me why, its weird :P)

Yes, I also feel that way as well. It's more popular than websites right now because the contents are constantly updated and thus generate endless stream of traffic to help on affiliates.

I think it makes no material difference. Affilate programs sufffers the same defect of low credibility regardless of whether it is promoted on blogs or websites.

Would use blogs cos they do very well with SEO. Content gets indexed very fast too.

May be if you are very good at marketing you can try sites but the if you are like me, i mean a noob then blog is better may be you can get some fruits with a less of efforts

Yeah, I also agree. Adding contents is also much faster and you don't have to worry on the design especially if you have a good wordpress template.

I think if we use blog to promote the program. It is still the same. We still need user to visit out blog. Doesn't make any different.

Nope!! Blogs I think do have the ability to get you some extra traffic without much effort. And the extra traffic probably comes from the SE.

So may be the blogs can help you get some extra visitors which you yourself would not need to drive to your site. You need to give it a try o that youll see the actual effect.

Generally nowadays, search engines seems to prefer blogs more than websites. That's how I look at it. In fact it is also driven by trend and demands and webmasters today all use blog for promotion. Maybe websites as landing page but actually content is the blog itself.

People just trust blog's more now, they are more personal and friendly, but this can be a down fall aswell as people can just look at your blog and see "only writing this to make money" as they do with sites, but I personally believe with a blog you can be more open about things

Most important thing is that it saves you time. SE doesn't look at design, but what matters most to these bots are just pure content.
