Reselling hosting

Have any of you ever tried this and been successful? I'm just curious as to how you got on. The hosting market seems huge with thousands of hosts out there. How did you compete with them? Did you oversell?

No i havent as yet but do have intensions. But cant descide wether to go for it or not. I am planning of setting up a full fleged web designing and hosting company.

But till now plans are on hold. Lets see what comes up.

By the way i think to beat the market you only need good service and affordable rates. I have seen people offering rock bottom rates for the first year to get some clients and provide very good support and service so finally the client does not think of leaving you after a year even if the charges are bit more.

Thats the latest trend i have seen in this market. May be youll need to follow it and settel to a bit lesser profit for the first year

I never did that even i know its a good chance to making money. I just wonder if some of you really did and earn from that. I cannot do that because i don't think i can earn well. YOu must really know many thing about that business if you want to involve.

No but there are people who use reseller hosting packages in order to start their own web hosting business. If you select a reputable company and use good reseller plans, you can make a good profit.

Yap. Some of them like to do that. But not for me. The good company maybe have a good reseller. But some people only like to buy domain and hosting. Not all of them interested to be a reseller. Even i know its good for side income, but i'm not interested.

Many things

I think the basic knowledge of reseller hosting the WHM, HELM,cPanel is enough. And some more things like someminor troublehootin ect would be helpful.

I cant think of any thing more.

Many. And the most thing is promotion. If you only join and not promote, i don't think you will earn anything from become reseller. You also need to know how to handle your customer when they have problem. Not only know about cpanel and others, but you need more..

Ya promotion isant that big deal cos i and you are already doing affiliates and other online stuff which needs the same.

When you are good enough in doing affiliate promotion and get some refrals and sell some one elses stuff to other people. Whay cant you sell your own stuff????

Only thing you need to provide support and that too very good support after building clients so that they stick to you forever.

Yap. I can do this business. But i have 2 problem. I'm good for affiliate program. But for reseller hosting. I don't think so. We need a lots of effort. Promotion, sales, support and have more time with this one. If not, your customer will run away..

Yep thats it. You realy have to be good in promotion and should provide good hosting platform and excellent support. If thats all in place no one can stop you

May be ill have to think over it again and see if i can do that.

Ehm, i just put some link about that reseller link. If someone ask me, i will tell him about that. But to do that for my main business, i don't think i have time to do that.
