How to earn from link directory??
Any ideas how to earn from link directory apart from selling links?
I am planning to start a free links directory so looking for some income from it which would support me later for its domain and hosting costs. May be using any affiliates or any thing which would help earning from link directory. By the way is adsense allowed on such directories? Dind not see many running adds on it? Any idea abou it?

Could be because of the new Adsense policy about terminating sites selling links. However, not sure about all this. After all how does a directory earn money anyway if it's not selling links. Maybe you could try to offer free directory with/without reciprocal and then rely only on Google Adsense.

Thats right but I intended to start a free directory. Cos not all prefer to buy links. So was looking for something that could earn me enough besides making people happy about getting a free link.
I think if its free it would attract more crowd, isant it? Have you noticed any running adsense on it. If yes please do PM me the links. Would like to have alook at them and see the add placement.

I don't know how to start earning money from directory. But i start to like this business. Its really good and i believe many people like to do this one too. I see many forum have their own directories too right?

So have you figured out a way to earn more from the directory? Apart from adsense I can't think of anything better than selling links. Hmmm...maybe you can grow it and then sell the whole directory later. That would be better.

Thats the best thing to do. Sell it away if you get a good buyer. But i did see a site running adsense on it dont remember what it was. And one more thing i noticed is that mostly people do offer free links but they also have paid links. So thats the best thing. Keep both. How about classifid sites are they same. Cos i noticed mostly all of the clasified sited did have adsense implemented.

Hmmm...I mean if your bandwidth can take it then just offer it free to all. More visitor submitting the better your ranking. I think during that time, get some good buyers to look at it. So what do you think? Tell us when it is up

Sorry to tell youll dude i have totally dropped the plan of the link directory cos of that adsense issue. Basically was looking foe a site which would get me some revenue too.
Most probably going for a free classified site. How about that????

Is it a free sites whereby people can put their ads for free there? Then I'm just wondering how are you going to attract visitors to the site if there is only ads around? How about creating a bidding directory. I saw some people doing that as well.

Ya its like any one can come and post any clissified may it be he's selling something or buying something, or may be he is looking for a job or wants people to work for him. He can post it there and get some intrested parties to contact the advertiser.

Worth a try. I've never been focused on classified ad sites before and not heard much as a money generating website. Do update us on the progress. Interested to learn about it.

I don't see anywhere that having Adsense advertisements on your site is bad. Just take a look at linkdirectory.com, it had Google adsense on all its pages and it's doing fine (#1 on Google when searching for link+directory).
Google is worried about Paid link submissions or paid links in general as they are just used to increase PageRank which is what Google does not want.

Well all the best. I'm sure with so many PPC around you can always find the right one even if you don't prefer adsense. Maybe like I mentioned earlier, develop and then sell it off for a good price.

Google's guidelines say, if I remember that you cannot place advertisements on pages with little or no content. So link directories should be fine, just as long as the description is also included, not just a link.
