What is PageRank?
PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page's importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page's PageRank is calculated.

Pagerank shows your site's popularity. It's from 0 to 10. If your site with 5 or 6 pagerank. It's good for you.

It's just a matrix or system used by google to determine how important your site is. Previously I thought pr has nothing to do with serp but somehow after careful observation both actually has relationship.

page rank is just importance from google, when u build authoratative links it gives u higher page rank

Nowadays whichever forum that I go it seems that argument has been saying that page rank is not important. I just don't understand how people would come to this conclusion. Page rank does affect serps and different websites competing for a particular keyword will be given importance for ranking position.
