Google directory lists you according to your page rank!!!

Did you know that in googles directory it lists sites depending on their pageranks and other selection criterias. It isant like the general directories.

So its like with google here too the pagerank counts. So if you have a good page rank you will get the top spot and the huge traffic and others with low page rnk will be low below

So what are you referring here is DMOZ right? Since google is using them as their directory. I'm not sure whether they will list according to PR and I only found out after you told me today. How do you managed to know about that? Do you have a site listed in DMOZ or the info is based on your research.

No google isant using DMOZ as a directory. They have their saperate directory. I think they only rely on DMOZ for the links as its a open directory.

You can check googles directory here. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

And by the way they do consider your PR too.

Hello friend, try click the link at the bottom "submit site" and see where it leads you to? The directory is basically taken from DMOZ

Ya thats what i ment. They run their saperate directory but the get the links or sites which are listed in DMOZ only. I dont think they accept links directly.

So to get into Google directory you first need to get into DMOZ.

Do you know which of the other major websites also rely on DMOZ for their directory listing apart from Google? I'm interested to know. Maybe there's a list.

This is not something I knew. So then you cannot just go and submit to a Google directory are you saying? I can imagine as particular as DMOZ is that they would list according to pr.

Page ranking may be important but I can tell you this - one of my sites has a page rank of 1 - and that rank is only for three different pages on my site. The other pages do not rank at all - and I come up on the first page for many different keywords and other sites with higher ranking come after mine for the same keywords.

My other site does not have a page rank at all and for some of my keywords I come up on the first page while again, others with higher ranking come after me.

Also realize this - Google changes page ranks often BUT they do not show those changes. They only update the ranking that we can see a couple times a year or even less while they update and change the ranking for themselves to see every month or so.

Well I think as what life31 mentioned here, google directory listing does follow and get listed according to the page rank. I noticed this somehow when I checked their listing today. Anyway, if only we can get into DMOZ, that would certainly push up the PR.

PageRank is the most overrated and underrated (yes...both) tool on the internet, but people worry so much about PR that they start to over do things which google looks down on and can 0 your PR easily if you break the smallest rule.

One day PageRank will be replaced as another SE will come up which is fair for it users

Yeah, and the thing is that people nowadays start to accept this as a standard. Even when you are selling websites, people will pay you the price based on the PR of your website. PR is not an international standard or whatsoever, it's just something develop by Google and ironically they are the leader rite now.
