Does anyone else think Yahoo news offers you the broadest range of news articles. They always seem to get the news from their site from Reuters, AP and AFP much quicker than other websites. Do they have a special arrangement ?

Not really; I think Yahoo's offerings are average, about the same range as other portals. Everyone offers different a slightly menu of wire services thoiugh.

Hmm...Myself I always go for Google news but anyway, it's basically the same whether you choose yahoo or google because basicaly they are all getting from the same source.

I use google news if i'm looking for news articles from international newspapers. Google is far better for those types of news searches. For a quick update however I prefer Yahoo.

I have to say I don't think much of theweb pages offered by television news channels.

TV stations and channels are meant for broadcast purposes; theire webpage is more for show and act merely as accessory. If you want in-depth news analysis on the net, go to wired serviced.

I would agree that the wire services are extremely good for finding out news ideas that are offer the main stream news agenda.

If I was looking for an in-depth look at a top and I didnt want to buy a newspaper or magazine, I would turn to their websites as these are often good at providing a lot of the details.

Every news source has its pros and cons and it is up to you the user/researcher to use the best bits and discard the lousy stuff - nobody is imperfect including major media groups.

However, if I have a choice I wish I could choose independent news network. Some of the news (I won't name exactly which one here) are basic controlled by certain countries and the events reported usually is one sided.

Any so called independent news network that you know of?

i actually dont preffer to stick to a single site for some news updates but what I do is randumly surf across the internet to make myself aware of whats going on. News is actually copied from one site to another so better looking across various options seeing what each one has to say regarding the same news.

Yes I know news is copied. I often enjoy reading a newspaper and finding that 99 per cent of the article i'm reading is copied direct from one of the news wire services. In some way its annoying but then we can't expect much from journalists these days.

There is a limit to how many things can happen in a day. As the news cycle continue to shorten due to the internet and the faster pace of life, it is inevitable that original content become a rare commodity.

What the journalists do these days is just cover up the news which is already out and then rewrite and republish it.

There would be very less dedicated journalists who personaly put in their efforts to grasp and get the latest and the newest news.

Most journalists merely report news as they come along; only a small minority ferrets out news and a smaller bad minority make up news

Yeah, the worst is the one that create their own story and version. Take the most controversial of all, the issue with palestine and israeli at the Gaza. Usually it's a one-sided report and never believe what you read
