Submitting to Yahoo! directory is not free. The charges listed is somehow quite high which is $299 for each listing that is submitted and then subsequent same amount to pay for every year the maintain the listing. I can't afford it so I have no choice but to just use some other directories

And also even if you pay $ 299, its not guaranteed if your website will get listed or not. No Refund. :P I dont care about Yahoo listings though.

What do you mean by no suerity after paying $299. How come that would happen. If you are paying then yahoo should compalsarily consider it without any further formalities.

If thats not the case i dont think any one would be that earger to gamble on his $300 with Yahoo.

You always have to sign-up for their paid listing, if you need your site to get featured on yahoo network. And yes, $299 is more like a gamble game because they clearly state in their terms that the money is not refundable. If your site is good ( as per the directory rules) it will never be denied..

In that case i would never even bother to try submitting my sites to them.
If its $300 per site so say about 5 site it would cost me around $1500

Better i start a directory similar to yahoo demanding $100 or $150 per link.

I would be a millioner within months

Seems like i should think on it seriously

Wow, I thought the money paid would surely get your site listed. Now after hearing what you guys said, I'm just wondering why there are still people willing to take such a gamble.

According to me only very old webmasters or may be some big companies like hosting ect and other online companies would preffer to try and submit their sites to Yahoo cos for them that amount would be negligible before the thousands of dollars spent on SEO and marketing.

No one else would be intrested.

May be Yahoo wants the same thing to happen. By doing that they are infact keeping a huge amount of spam away without any special efforts and moderation required. May be thats the reason.

Yeah, you are right. That means only the qualified and serious sites are accepted. I think Yahoo should be fair to some of the smaller sites by creating a less popular smaller directory and make it free or with lower cost. That would be better eh? I wonder they do listen to others comments.

hope that yahoo takes your post into consideration and starts a small business directory as it runs offers on domains for small business at $1.99

Something like "Directoy for small business link-$2.99 "

But in that case too i wont submit my sites cos of $2.99

That would be great! I hope they do consider on that. Nobody wants to pay hundred of dollars for a newly setup website to get listed and maybe they should consider offering a lower grade directories. I don't know how they can do that, but I'm sure it can benefit a lot of people.
