Is DMOZ significant?

Why every one keep saying DMOZ? Every where I go webmaster say DMOZ is best. Isn't it another directory. Can't we just submit to other directory and why is so special about DMOZ.

DMOZ is considered important because Google directory will depend on it to search for directory listing. It's a free open source project mainly run by non-profit organization and individuals. The reason is because it is tightly related to Google.

If significant, I must submit to them. That is the same thing where other forum member also say. They discuss very much about DMOZ. Some call it the best which I don't understand.

One thing you should note is that to be accepted into DMOZ, your site needs to be fulfill all their high standard requirements. They don't just accept any site and chances of getting into the elite club is somehow slim. But don't get discourage, if you give your best, I'm sure things will work out.

Perhaps there are other things you should know as well like many people claim that DMOZ editors are corrupted. Of course I do not know how true the claim is. But surely I don't like the way they handle things.

Like that I decide not to submit dmoz. I will try but I think my site will not good enough. I hear same complain by members from other forums who share same opinion.

Hey just to update you guys... One of my blog was managed to be accepted to DMOZ. I didn't know about it until I checked my google analytics stats and found out that there are referral traffics coming from the directory. Not many at the moment but I can see it building up.

Congrats Hwang for meeting the standards of human evaluators instead of that of robots and spiders It seems that being listed by DMOZ increase your PR by 1 to 2 points; not sure if this observation is still valid.

Do you get any traffic from the directory itself??? SE and google would probably not be a problem for you now after getting listed there

Thanks guys. I hope there's a huge PR jump in the next update and I definitely look forward to it. Well initially I thought getting listed is near impossible but now I know I'm actually wrong.

It just take a little longer to get listed (if your stuff meets the requirement) bearing in mind that listing is done by humans and not robots. Good time for Hwang to get listed in time for the next PR update which should be happening within this 2 weeks or so.

The thing about getting listed is that, I don't even know it has already been accepted because there's no email confirmation to tell you. Well, hopefully now I can work on other sites to get them accepted as well.

That is so strange with no notification; I guess you have to constantly check it out yourself then. Good luck for your other sites
