Dmoz?

I was wondering, I know roughly what DMOZ is, it's a big directory. What i don't get, however, is what to do to get my site in :P
I mean, i've got a weblog, and i couldn't find a category with the submit thing that fitted my blog at all, I mean, what do i do? I'm confused

I would be worry too much about that if I were you. The most problematic thing associated with DMOZ is getting listed with them. There are people who actually waited a very long time even months. Some even mentioned that the editors are corrupted and accepted bribes to get your listed.

Wow, but i Thought Google was involved in it, and Google didn't do that sort of stuff? it's a high pR directory, thats one of the reasons i wanted to get in to it

Yeah, a lot of people has been complaining too much about them. I think the problem on the corrupted editors are still on-going. I'm not sure whether Google are directed involved with it but i think their level of service is far than satisfactory.

I dont get it what youll ment to say corrupt editors. You mean they accept your site only if you pay or bribe them or something like that. Never had any clue about it.

But i did have seen lots of people trying to submit their sites and failing to get a place there eventually.

Hmm. Doesn't seem to be worth it, unless there's some amazing reason to put a site on there, i mean it's only one link, is it really worth all the work? lol.

Yup. If you read all the reviews around, there will always be news about the corrupted editors. I can't remember the exact link which I've read about that but I think if you google around, you could read about this easily.

Who actually owns DMOZ? I mean is it another Google project, or is it independant? I've seen a lot about it on Google and I was wondering how it was setup :P

It's actually an open directory independently run by volunteers who don't get paid that's why the reason of corruption surface there. On the ownership issue, not sure who is controlling them.

No i dont think its any of the googles project. But is just given importance by google as it is quite famous.

By the way dosent google have a directory too????

I'm not sure about the google directory. Anyway with the current trend happening in DMOZ and with lots of complaint, people might one day abandon them and go for other directories.

I am certain that Google does have their own directory. In any case, it can be very hard to get listed in DMOZ. One of my old sites was high up in the search engines but never made its way to DMOZ. I too, have heard of editors who will make sure your site gets listed sooner if you pay them some money.
